Sociological historian from the traditional conflict perspective. i see the world through the perspectives of economics and technology, not politics. When i'm not deeply pondering society, history, and natural sciences, i'm probably driving down a country road, reading a book on the beach, or loligagging around Gettysburg. Sippin' bourbon along the way. And working. Yeah. That, too.

Beer is good. And people are crazy.

The latest. Started it awhile ago but put it down. Finished the one on mapmaker and Andersonville inmate Knox Sneden. Starting another book about Lew Wallace. Gettysburg was huge, but it wasn't the sum. This whole, ungodly war is just riveting and would take many lifetimes to fully absorb!

Starting some early spring cleaning. Found this in a bin which i thought contained dress clothes. Don't think i've ever even worn it yet. Cool!

This was fantastic. Very detailed memoirs, wonderful watercolors, and perhaps the most accurate maps and building illustrations of the war. Now, it periodically gets bogged down in detail, but for me, that's part of why it's invaluable. And, while unmentioned on the cover, the latter chapters constitute one of the most detailed (and slightly exaggerated) accounts of life inside the Andersonville prison. Earlier chapters center around the Peninsula Campaign. Most of Sneden's works went undiscovered for about seven decades, and, once availed, were an astonishing find. Published ca. 2000. Procure yourself a copy!

So, i'm with a beautiful girl. We're lying in bed, talking about our work schedules, when our next day off is. Planning on another trip to Gettysburg and ask her if she's off on the same day. And then, as usual, i woke up 😖
