Welcome to Mastercorp Record Label's YouTube channel for our Top of the Pops covers.
Starting in 1968, we issued a series of records on our Hallmark label called Top of the Pops. These contain anonymous cover versions of hit singles. The recordings for Top of the Pops were intended to replicate the sound of the original hits as closely as possible and the albums were recorded by a studio group, comprising session musicians and singers who remained unaccredited, although they included Tina Charles and Elton John before they became successful. We now call these anonymous musicians Top of the Poppers.
Record producer Alan Crawford conceived the idea for Top of the Pops. Crawford's key idea was to create a continuous series of albums with the same title. Pickwick Record Label agreed to undertake Crawford's idea and the first volume was issued in mid-1968.
We hope you enjoy our music.
