Under A Tin Roof

Hi Friends ❤️ I wanted to share something personal that will affect my posting schedule for the next several weeks.

My mom, Jill, was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer that has spread to her liver, and our family is navigating a lot of sudden changes, appointments, and emotions. We all live together, as many of you already know, and you have probably seen my mom in a few of my videos or Instagram posts over the years.

For those who are new around here, my mom and I started Under A Tin Roof together in 2015 as a handmade business. My mom is an incredible artist, illustrator, and graphic designer who began her own handmade business when I was a toddler. She is a bright, funny, joyful, brilliant part of our home. She is the person who makes you feel right at home within moments of meeting her. This has been incredibly hard news for all of us.

I am still planning to post when I can, but things may be a bit slower or more irregular as we adjust and support her through treatment to slow down the cancer's progression. Over the past year, Jill has taken to primarily caring for my children as Under A Tin Roof has continued to grow and expand, requiring many more work hours than I ever expected.

As you may have guessed, creating videos is a big part of my family's income. This will mean an inevitable loss of income for the both of us, along with the cost of medical bills that are already piling up.

Thank you so much for your kindness, patience, and understanding. This community has grown to feel like an extended family of the sweetest people. You are truly so kind and generous! It still shocks me with the amount of the love and care that you share with me and my family. I am grateful for every one of you.

I'll share updates when it feels right, and will be discussing this news in an upcoming video that I hope to post next Sunday.

I have also set up a GoFundMe for Jill. We would be so grateful for any contribution you can make, and if you cannot donate, sharing the GoFundMe would be a huge help: gofund.me/b8eb55090

In the meantime, please keep my mom in your thoughts.

xoxo Kayla

Under A Tin Roof

Hello! We have entered the season of giving, and I wanted to say an incredibly large THANK YOU to YOU ❤️ Your support, views, comments, likes, and visits to my website have helped me to be able to give back to my community. I am looking forward to making this a tradition each year as I continue creating on YouTube.

Last year, I mentioned in one of my holiday videos that I was able to be a part of the Christmas Assistance program through my children's school. This program helps provide gifts to families that are in need of financial help during the holidays and otherwise cannot afford things like toys, clothes, books, games, etc. I had an absolute blast doing this last year, and I am so excited to be a part of the program again for the upcoming holiday season.

In addition, I was able to make a donation to a local food bank this month. While it's not a huge number, I am still elated, thankful, and eternally grateful that this little YouTube community has been able to help provide food for families that need it as we head into winter.

I always want to do my best to be transparent about my channel with you! This channel and my blog are my main sources of income (other than a small amount I make through affiliate links and the very rare book royalties). Anyway - Thank you!!!! Your support helps me to support others, and it means the world to me 🥰

Sending all of my love your way! ❤️🎁

Under A Tin Roof

Hi, friends! ❤️

I hope you are well and enjoying these last days of fall. I took a break from posting last week as I dealt with a chest cold, but I am working on the next episode for this Sunday 🥰

This will be the final fall episode before I start sharing Christmas things! Anything you are hoping to see? 🎄

I am trying my best to keep things cozy and not push myself to the limit. I think the Halloween party episode will be my last big hurrah for the year 😂🙈

If you are able, I really appreciate when you play my videos in the background while you are working at home! A new compilation came out recently, and it is excellent for gentle atmosphere. It helps me so much.

Much love to you!!! ❤️

🎃 New Video! https://youtu.be/rFzsx7OdZxg

Hello, my friends! There is a new video out today. I hope that you enjoy it. I am giving another camping episode a try. I would so appreciate any love you could give to it since it's a little "new" feeling compared to my other videos. Any views, comments, or likes you are able to leave really helps the channel!

I hope that you are all having a beautiful October so far. It's finally chilly here! I've been filming outside all weekend and enjoying being able to wear a sweater while working in the garden 🥰

New episodes will be coming the next two Sundays with all the Halloween activities. Hooray!

Under A Tin Roof

Happy Sunday, friends! 🎃🍁☕️ There is a new 2 Hour Fall Compilation coming out today at 11 AM CST - full of slow living autumnal scenes, recipes, crafts, and nature.

I haven’t been able to film anything new over the last 2 weeks due to some unforeseen health issues on my part that has left me incredibly fatigued; I also had my wisdom teeth removed last week 🙈🤪

I am hoping to film something this week and (crossing my fingers) I can get it up by next Sunday! If not, it will come out the following week 🤗

I know you all are so patient and don’t mind either way, but I also want to keep you in the loop! I think we shall start getting into the fall season and refresh the cottage, make some soup, and relax a bit after a very busy summer. What do you think? Anything you’d like to see more of or recipes you’d like me to make? I’m feeling a bit uninspired lately with my cooking and not really in the mood to cook much at all 😣❤️🙈

Thank you SO MUCH for watching my compilations and older videos! It helps me a LOT!! ❤️

Let’s do a Q + A! 🌻🐓🍅

I’m working on the next episodes, and I thought it might be fun to do more of a “week in the life” style of video rather than focusing on a single ingredient that I work with from start to finish. Then I could answer some of your frequently asked questions in the captions! 🥰

Which episode style do you prefer? Would you rather see all of the things I make all week, or focus on a single ingredient like cucumbers or apples? 🤭

Drop your questions in the comments, and I’ll try to answer as many as I can! 📝

Hope you enjoy this week’s episode where I bake a strawberry cake and make little garden themed cookies for my daughter’s fairy garden themed birthday! 🍓🥰🍰

Under A Tin Roof

A new episode is coming tomorrow at 10AM CST!

I'm harvesting radishes from the garden, making quick refrigerator pickles, baking baguettes and whipping up a delicious pea pesto spread for a summer picnic. The warm summer days are officially here, so it's time to harvest the last of the spring produce in the kitchen garden.

I'll see you at the farm! I hope you enjoy this week's cozy cooking video.

Under A Tin Roof

Happy Sunday, Friends! 🥰 I have a question for you…

I don’t have a new video for you this week, but I am currently working on THREE new episodes simultaneously as the first early summer harvests have begun. There is so much to capture and so little time it often feels!

I spend a lot of time considering how I create my videos, and it often surprises me which videos you love best… as well as the ones that you don’t!

For example, I absolutely loved making our camping episode, but it just might not be the right fit and that’s okay 🙈❤️

So I am curious, which of these elements is your favorite part about my videos? Which of these elements do you keep coming back for? I wish there was an option to choose more than one, but if you could only pick one, which would it be?

Thank you for helping me! 🌷 wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead 🥰
