Hi Friends ❤️ I wanted to share something personal that will affect my posting schedule for the next several weeks.
My mom, Jill, was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer that has spread to her liver, and our family is navigating a lot of sudden changes, appointments, and emotions. We all live together, as many of you already know, and you have probably seen my mom in a few of my videos or Instagram posts over the years.
For those who are new around here, my mom and I started Under A Tin Roof together in 2015 as a handmade business. My mom is an incredible artist, illustrator, and graphic designer who began her own handmade business when I was a toddler. She is a bright, funny, joyful, brilliant part of our home. She is the person who makes you feel right at home within moments of meeting her. This has been incredibly hard news for all of us.
I am still planning to post when I can, but things may be a bit slower or more irregular as we adjust and support her through treatment to slow down the cancer's progression. Over the past year, Jill has taken to primarily caring for my children as Under A Tin Roof has continued to grow and expand, requiring many more work hours than I ever expected.
As you may have guessed, creating videos is a big part of my family's income. This will mean an inevitable loss of income for the both of us, along with the cost of medical bills that are already piling up.
Thank you so much for your kindness, patience, and understanding. This community has grown to feel like an extended family of the sweetest people. You are truly so kind and generous! It still shocks me with the amount of the love and care that you share with me and my family. I am grateful for every one of you.
I'll share updates when it feels right, and will be discussing this news in an upcoming video that I hope to post next Sunday.
I have also set up a GoFundMe for Jill. We would be so grateful for any contribution you can make, and if you cannot donate, sharing the GoFundMe would be a huge help: gofund.me/b8eb55090
In the meantime, please keep my mom in your thoughts.
