Get Up And Teach

As experienced teachers, we have always pushed back on “living for summer” and teaching “from behind a desk.” In both our careers, we’ve been motivated to find better ways to empower our students to reach their full potential. Both of us felt the need for better teaching.

We had students who were more than capable of doing the required tasks, but continued to give up.
Why? How could we get them to push forward?
We were doing everything we thought was best in our classrooms.

After reading Mindset for Mathematics by Jo Boahler and Mindset: The New Psychology of Success by Carol Dweck, we began reflecting on the power of the mind.

After learning about mindset, we read Emotional Intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradbury. That led to the many works by Dr. Caroline Leaf about the workings of the brain and the power of accepting or rejecting thoughts of the mind.

And this is where Get Up and Teach was created: combining the knowledge of mindset and the awareness of emotions.
