1923-cü ildə əsası qoyulan "Azərbaycanfilm" köklü tarixə sahib aparıcı kinostudiyadır. Studiya Azərbaycan kinosunun məbədidir. 1923-cü ildən bəri studiyada 300-dən çox bədii, qısametrajlı, sənədli və cizgi filmləri istehsal edilmişdir. Başlıca fəaliyyət istiqaməti bədii və sənədli filmlərin bütün istehsal mərhələlərini həyata keçirmək, beynəlxalq kino sənayesində müştərək film istehsalına qoşulmaq və Azərbaycan kinosunun beynəlxalq arenada təbliğatını aparmaqdır.
