Hey šās
Iām Vannah a wife, mom, and nurse practitioner on a journey of healing, weight loss, and holistic wellness. For years, I lived life on autopilot busy with work, family, and responsibilities while neglecting my own health, emotionally, mentally, and physically. After facing trauma, loss, anxiety, and health challenges, I realized it was time to take control of my body, mind, and spirit.
I started documenting my weight loss journey, but this truly is evolving into something bigger than me as Iāve seen how many health struggles stem from poor nutrition, stress, and lack of awareness so I decided to kick it up a notch and share what I know as a NP and what Iām learning about holistic health, disease prevention, and sustainable lifestyle changes. My goal is to help women like you make intentional choices for your health, reclaim your energy, and live a more fulfilled life. Letās stop living on autopilot and make one daily healthier choice at a time š

I told myself, āJust do 30 minutes. Thatās it. Donāt overthink it. Just move your body.ā
No pressure. No extremes. Just keep the promise.
So I put on my gospel playlist, stepped outside, and started walking.
And somewhere between talking to God, breathing deeper than I have in days, and letting the sun hit my face⦠I felt Him with me.
Not in a loud, dramatic way.
But in a gentle, steady whisper:
āKeep going.ā
Step by step.
Prayer by prayer.
Tear by tear.
And before I knew it⦠3+ miles.
Yāall⦠this is what Iām learning on my healing and weight loss journey:
Transformation doesnāt start with discipline.
It starts with surrender.
Surrendering the timeline.
Surrendering the shame.
Surrendering the comparison.
Surrendering the fear that this time wonāt be different.
As a nurse practitioner, I understand the science of weight loss, hormones, inflammation, and metabolism.
But as a woman of faith walking through her own holistic health journey, Iām learning that healing is deeper than macros and meal plans.
Itās obedience in the small things.
Itās keeping the promise you made to yourself.
Itās choosing movement when youād rather numb out.
Itās trusting God with your body instead of fighting it.
If youāre thinking about starting your healing journeyā¦
If youāre tired of starting and stoppingā¦
If youāre tired of feeling stuck in your bodyā¦
Start with surrender.
You donāt need a perfect plan.
You need a willing heart.
Your 30-minute walk might turn into 3 miles.
Or it might just be 15 minutes today.
Either way heaven sees your effort.
And that first step?
It matters more than you think.

For the longest time, I thought eating less was the answer.
1,200 calories.
1,600 calories.
Just starve a little more.
But at 256 lbs⦠trying to heal my hormones, lose weight, and keep my sanity⦠I realized I needed to re-evaluate my calorie deficit the RIGHT way.
So I decided since Iām re evaluating my own calorie deficit goal Iād create a video on:
āHow I Calculated My Calorie Deficit at 256 lbs (Without Starving)ā
I break down:
āļø What a calorie deficit actually is
āļø How I calculated my maintenance calories
āļø Why Iām choosing 1ā1.5 lbs per week
āļø My actual plan moving forward
If youāve ever wondered, āHow many calories should I actually be eating?ā this one is for you.

There was a time a camera couldnāt catch me posing like this.
I would hide.
Hide behind angles.
Hide behind baggy clothes.
Hide behind āIāll start whenā¦ā
But something shifted.
As Iāve been building my relationship with God, healing my mind, being intentional about what I eat, and actually moving my body consistently⦠I donāt just feel smaller.
I feel FREE.
Free from shame.
Free from hiding.
Free from food controlling me.
Free from the version of me that didnāt believe she deserved to feel confident.
The choices Iām making now align with the woman Iām becoming.
And that alignment? Itās powerful.
This bodysuit isnāt just cute.
It represents growth.
It represents discipline.
It represents self-love.
One-piece workout sets might just be my new thing š
No more hiding behind oversized clothes.
No more shrinking myself.
Iām walking in confidence.
And it feels amazing.
Check the comments for details on this bodysuit š

You Do NOT Need to Eat Less to Lose Weight š¤
For years, I thought weight loss meant restriction⦠eating less, cutting everything I loved, and constantly feeling deprived.
But hereās the truth šš½ I lost over 60 pounds without giving up the foods I love.
What changed?
⢠I stopped eating ultra-processed junk
⢠I removed excess sugar
⢠I followed the 80/20 rule (80% nourishing whole foods, 20% flexibility)
⢠I moved my body daily
⢠And most importantly⦠I changed my mindset and relationship with myself and my body
If youāre just starting your weight loss journey, hear me clearly:
⨠Simply removing heavily processed foods alone can help you lose weight.
Now letās talk about calories and food scales because this is where people get confused.
You do not have to use a food scale forever.
However, it is helpful especially in the beginning to understand what and how much youāre actually consuming. Most of us truly donāt know.
Weight loss still comes down to building a calorie deficit but that doesnāt mean restriction.
It means awareness + better food quality.
You donāt have to give up the foods you love.
You just need to:
āļø Know your portions
āļø Clean up your diet a bit
āļø Choose foods that fuel and nourish your body
āļø Create a sustainable deficit
This week, Iām challenging myself to start using a food scale not because I want to obsess over calories (thatās NOT my focus), but because knowledge is power. And honestly? Iām excited for the challenge.
Iām proud to say I can still eat what I love, enjoy my food, and lose weight without saying āI canāt have thisā or āI need to restrict that.ā
⨠Eat what you love just lead with foods that love your body back.
Iāll be sharing more about food scales, calories, and mindset in an upcoming video so stay tuned š¤

This journey has been nothing short of amazing.
God has tested me more times than I can count and yes, there were moments I wanted to quit. But every single day Iām reminded that the vision God showed me will not come to pass if I give up on myself.
I have to stay the course.
I have to keep taking action.
I have to keep moving even when it feels uncomfortable.
Godās promises will prevail if I stay aligned and stay obedient.
Up until now, my movement has been walking and YouTube workouts cardio and light strength. But Iām entering a new lane. Iāve decided to step into my home gym and truly challenge myself with strength training using machines and dumbbells.
And let me be honest⦠Iām a true beginner.
There are moments I stand there like, āOkay Lord⦠how do I even use this machine?ā š
Thank God for the little diagrams, YouTube, and yes ChatGPT because Iām learning as I go.
But Iām not backing down.
Iām choosing to conquer this phase too.
Iām actually loving this process the growth, the discipline, the faith stretch.
And the best part?
This is only the beginning. āØ
