Most people think that yoga is about flexibility, I guess that is a small part of it. For me though, the joy of yoga and why is stands alone as a practice is it’s all encompassing magic. Yes, it increases flexibility but it also strengthens muscles, increases stability and fluidity of movement. It encourages you to be present, be aware of your body and change habitual unhelpful movements. But there is more, the rhythmic movements and the freeing of the breath, calms us. Stimulating the para-sympathetic nervous system, it relieves stress. It stills the mind. This is about being curious. No judgment about what you can or can’t do. It’s a watching and exploring… See what stuff feels like, play with it.
