A Short History of Punitha Adiakala Madha Church, Pallankoil
Punitha Adiakala Madha Church, located in Pallankoil, was originally part of the Thiruthuraipoondi Parish under the Diocese of Thanjavur. For many years, the faithful of this community nurtured their devotion and spiritual life as a substation of the parish, growing steadily in faith and unity.
Recognizing the vibrant faith life and pastoral needs of the growing Catholic community, the Diocese of Thanjavur took a historic step. On 1st August 2025, Most Rev. Dr. T. Sagayaraj, the Bishop of Thanjavur, officially declared and installed Punitha Adiakala Madha Church as an independent parish.
On the same day, Rev. Fr. Amirtharaj was appointed and took charge as the first Parish Priest of this newly erected parish. This significant milestone marks a new chapter in the spiritual journey of the faithful at Pallankoil, who now walk forward with renewed hope and dedication under the loving care of their new shepherd.
