Spoke about a couple of these on my podcast, but here's some quick rundowns in the world of AI!
Transparency in AI! We're starting to slowly see either new regulations, company innovations, and companies self regulating the use of artificial intelligence and it's all around the protecting the wellness of either the citizen or consumer.
First AI ACT
The European Parliament passed the AI Act by a whopping 523-46 majority to provide requirements and regulations around deployed AI with an assessed risk. Also, although this is the EU, it does apply to any company who resides outside the EU but deploys an AI model within the territory. What will be interesting is the development in the framework to assess the risk of the AI model, and how it will be determined whether proper transparency or disclosure has been made.

In the same spirit of the AI Act of the EU, YouTube has continued its roll out of transparency in content. Creators are now required to disclose whether or not the content is "altered" or "synthetic." Examples of such are:
Using the likeness of a realistic person: Digitally altering content to replace the face of one individual with another's or synthetically generating a person’s voice to narrate a video.
Altering footage of real events or places: Such as making it appear as if a real building caught fire, or altering a real cityscape to make it appear different than in reality.
Generating realistic scenes: Showing a realistic depiction of fictional major events, like a tornado moving toward a real town.
IBM Wants to Give you Trust
Lastly, although IBM originally filed their patent application a couple years ago, their patent on a system for establishing Artificial Intelligence Trustworthiness has recently been published. This patent is a "computer system," although it may be reasonable to infer that itself is an AI model, that helps assess the disclosure and transparency of a deployed model.

Interesting pivot. Business often pivot when presented with obstacles or they die. Despite reasoning, I find X’s pivot to support smaller business to be hopefully. I started my legal career focusing on startups and with that comes a lot of challenges, with one being monetary and exposure. If the noise is reduced from the big advertisers and you’re left with smaller businesses, I’m hoping this leads to a diversity of exposure and new less visible products!
