Music and singing have been my passion since childhood, but it is not easy for a woman to move forward on the path of her dreams by breaking through the fabric of lower middle class family background and feudal society. Never been for me either.
My connection with music is not limited to just singing. For me, music is a medium to express a woman's struggle for identity, her self-respect and her aspirations. It is also a constant effort to free myself from my shackles, which gives me a sense of meaning.
I have been finding my place in Hindi literature for self-expression through music. From Mirabai, Kabir, Raidas, Mahadevi Verma to Adam Gondvi, I have found the sound of rebellion echoed in Hindi literature as my own, that is why I have been trying my best to connect my music with the same link. It is the right of the listeners to decide whether I have achieved any success in this or not.
