Homunculus Midwife – The Womb That Would Not Die [The Heretic's Alchemy]
In the damp silence of forgotten laboratories, the Homunculus Midwife tends to her vats. She sings to the things inside: half-formed, twitching, hungry. Her hands are steady, her voice kind, her purpose monstrous.
Each new creation she delivers is less alive than the last, yet she clings to her work with sacred devotion.
To her, the bubbling flesh is not failure—it is family.
She nurses horrors, stitches them, and weeps as they dissolve back into the broth, only to begin again.
Enjoy! Evan | MonkeyDM

Arcanum Skullclamp — Open Your Skull to the Cosmos (but mostly open your skull) [The Heretic's Alchemy]
Here is an intense magic item for you.
The Arcanum Skullclamp is a gilded crown of needles, which drives raw leyline magic straight into the mind, granting visions of impossible truths and communion with things that should never be heard.
This item has a new method of attunement, because it turns out, driving a metal rod into your skull can have some intense side effects.
Enjoy!

P.S: there is a second version of this magic item coming to the Heretic's Alchemy, with even more intense side effects. You can find it here: www.patreon.com/c/monkeydm
Fighter: The Revenant - Fight, Die, Repeat [The Heretic's Alchemy]
This subclass was heavily inspired by Dark Souls (I’m sure you can tell)
I wanted to capture that relentless undead vibe where death is just a checkpoint, like respawning at bonfires, except modified to fit in grimdark campaigns for D&D.
Balance-wise, the HP fracturing though it reduces your hit points maximum, actually makes you tankier, because any damage over your death threshold doesn’t carry over, and deadlier, thanks to the buffs you gain in death.
Mike Franchina and his team really created something amazing content.
When I saw the Witchburner with his judge’s wig, and ability to set fire to any magic user, I realized that he would make a perfect D&D paladin subclass.
From the wiki: “The Witchburners are the field officers of the Inquisition. They are tasked with hunting down and punishing witches, warlocks and heretics that cannot be brought to face justice by conventional means.”
Their ability to set fire to anyone using arcane around them was a ready-made aura, and then I got creative with the rest of the abilities.
Fun Fact: In the game of Trench Crusade, they cannot run, they are forced to pimp walk. I did not add that to their abilities here, but feel free to do so.
This is Fan content, not affiliated with Trench Crusade or Wizards of the Coast.
Enjoy!

Here's a new set of mechanics I’ve been working on: the Rituals of Stitching, an alternative take on resurrection for D&D.
I can't show it all here, because some of the art is a too dark for YouTube.
You've been warned.
I’ve never been a fan of how easy resurrection can get in standard D&D, especially at higher levels. Spells like Raise Dead or Revivify can feel like a quick fix, trivializing death in a way that doesn’t match the stakes of a dark fantasy world.
In lore, bringing someone back from the dead—something necromantic—should be tied to evil, not a clean, holy act.
The dead aren’t meant to just pop back up, good as new; it should come with a cost, a curse, a sense that you’ve tampered with forces best left alone.
That’s where these rituals come in.
They rework resurrection into something twisted and dangerous, reflecting how unnatural and messed-up it really ought to be.
Will using these mechanics make it more likely for a character to die again?
Yes
But that’s the point.
If you’re clawing your way back from death, you shouldn’t be alive in the first place.
Hope you enjoy trying them out—let me know how they play at your table!
