This YouTube Channel is mainly dedicated to the nature that's found in my garden and backyard. Nature is everywhere, and there's no reason for people to fear or dislike it. We're part of Nature, even in the middle of the largest cities, and it's apart of us. If we take care of Nature, Nature will take care of us.

We had another summer baby visiting for the first time yesterday - another of Kari's kids, I'm sure. She comes to visit with Minnie, who I believe is also Kari's daughter. The Kari clan is getting large. I think Minnie has a brother who is shy and stays away from us. Now we have at least two more of her kids visiting.
We haven't named this new girl, but we've settled on Pete for her brother who started visiting a few days ago.
The funny story with this new girl: I first saw her yesterday afternoon on the plank. But she was standing on the box with the lid open wrestling with something. I was like, "What the heck is in there?" Well, we have the bowl sitting on another bowl with a wash cloth folded up between them so the squirrels can reach the food easily. She pulled the washcloth out!
(The last photo is the new girl on the ground after dropping the cloth, which landed on a sunflower by the pumpkin ...)
We're going to have to keep a close eye on this squirrel! lol

A few photos of Tina today. She was eating walnuts when I came out to check on the feeders, so I gave her a pecan, which she promptly took to hide away somewhere else.

We haven't seen Mrs. Munchie for nearly a month now ... the last photos I shared of her at the end of August was the last time I saw her. She had done this before, so I wasn't very worried. I assumed she would be back at some point.
This morning, I noticed a squirrel crossing the road across the street from us and climbed the fence next to the sidewalk (photo #1). Mrs. Munchie always walked down the sidewalk along that fence on the way to our place ... I think she prefers to have the fence available if she needs to get off the ground fast. And there's also a telephone pole at the corner where she would cross the street that she could climb if something spooked her.
Problem is, there's a mother cat living in one of the lots on that side of the street now with a couple half-grown kittens. Mrs. Munchie knew this before she went off on vacation somewhere. And this squirrel sat on the fence for several minutes to make sure the coast was clear. Then, the squirrel climbed down and started walking down the sidewalk (photo #2). It was definitely Mrs. Munchie. (Don't worry, everything turned out fine!)
When she got to the gate where the cats live, one of the kittens jumped out at her, and she beat a quick retreat back to home base (photo #3). She jumped onto the wall where she would often sit before disappearing into the bougainvillea bush and sat there for a minute before giving up on visiting us.
Two of the kittens sat outside their gate and watched for her before disappearing again themselves (photo #4).
Long story short, Mrs. Munchie is back, but she will have to devise a new route to our place. The cats are still there waiting, and the kittens are getting old enough to be dangerous.

We had quite a bit of drama today. Minnie was channeling her inner wild child and chasing Mary and Tina away from the garden when they were trying to visit.
Photo #1 is Minnie splooting on the neighbor's wall after chasing Mary off. It reminded so much of a time last year when Maryetta did the same thing to Mary and splooted on the wall like this afterward. When Minnie came to get a pecan from me, I asked her if she was proud of herself. She was!
Mary wasn't going to be deterred, however, and simply waited for Minnie to move on before she came back. Photo #2 is Mary eating a pecan on the wall behind our loquat tree.
Then we had a nice long visit from Tina, our new girl who I believe is a summer child. She ate and ate and ate ... I think four or five pecans. A growing teen with a bottomless stomach! When she finally went home, she went the way Mary does ... So, I think she may be one of Mary's kids. Photos #3-5 are Tina.

A few more photos from yesterday:
1-3. Mary found a new way to straddle bowls (or cups) - use the bowl as a chair!
4. Alex crashing out in the canary palm tree for his afternoon nap.
5. One of our resident lizards - they are getting big!
And Mary is definitely back again. She showed up around noon today. Great to see her more often.

Mary visited us again today! I think she has moved to a new nest that's closer to us again finally. She chowed down on sunflower seeds as usual. When she was disturbed by Alex, she decided to relax for a few minutes up on our carport roof. She was looking pretty darn cute while she was up there!

Mary came for breakfast this morning. She's still coming only once or twice a week, but she's switched to morning hours. And she's clearly got older babies nursing. Marty and Minnie both accosted me for nuts the whole time I was outside spending time with her. They really know how to work an old softy! lol
Mrs. Munchie, on the other hand, has been AWOL for a couple weeks now. She has done this before, so I'm not too worried. The auto shop across the street moved out, a new business moved in, and we've had construction in the park on and off ... so she may have decided to go elsewhere like she has done before.
Here's a few photos I snapped of her and Marty while she was here.

Mary surprised me this morning. I was sweeping up bird seed from the drive way around 7am, and she hopped into the finch feeder from the lemon tree. At first I thought it must be Kari, but it was strange for her to do that with me so close. Then I realized, "Oh, it's Mary!" It was a good thing, because we had construction outside our front window most of the day that kept the squirrels away. But it started later in the morning, so the regular crew got breakfast okay. It was like the spring days earlier in the year, having Kari and Mary both in the morning.
#1 and #2 are Mary after she moved to the palm tree feeder.
#3 is Kari eating the finch food.
#4 and #5 are Marty on his way to get a pecan from me.
