The statement below may be simple, but it took me YEARS to truly believe this.

Somewhere in my teacher career, I started to believe that being a great teacher meant always sacrificing and constantly giving. And if I didn't do that, I was a bad teacher.

I was staying late, coming in early, bringing home piles of papers, and spending countless hours over every lesson plan. Teaching started to creep into every element of my life and it left me exhausted, overworked, and on the brink of burning out.

It wasn't until I shifted my mindset that teaching changed for me. I began to BELIEVE that I could be a great teacher while also having a great life outside of school. And I became fearless about creating strong boundaries and learning more about who I was outside of teaching.

And you know what's crazy? As I began to follow this new conviction, I found not only did my life get more beautiful, but my joy in teaching began to return. More than that, I truly believe I am the BEST teacher I have ever been. And it came from this one belief.

Teacher, if no one has told you this today, you deserve a beautiful life, both inside and outside the classroom. You truly do :)

If you're feeling the Sunday Scaries today, you're not alone! Sunday used to be the worst day of my week.

It was full of dread and stress for the coming week. I felt like I should be doing more or I was forgetting something going into the week. I felt like it was "wrong" for me to unplug from teaching over the weekend to enjoy life. Teaching felt like a never ending task and I fed into this idea for way too long.

It took me YEARS to discover this strategy that now allows my Sundays to be relaxed and my Mondays to feel calm. Check out the full video here:
