From steam engines to photovoltaics - all technologies depend on the properties of their materials. New materials are thus the key to the major future fields such as energy, mobility and sustainability. Since 1950, we at Leibniz-IWT have been asking ourselves what the future might look like. Our scientific questions range from the production of materials, such as powder production for additive manufacturing, to the analysis of the final machined components, for example high-precision gears. In doing so, we work across disciplines, internationally and practically.
