Stein Winery – Celebrating 50 Years of Winemaking Excellence

Stein is one of the oldest vineyards and wineries in Mudgee, proudly crafting exceptional wines for 50 years. Home to Mudgee’s best Riesling, a vintage motorcycle museum, and the highly acclaimed Pipeclay Pumphouse restaurant, Stein is where history, family, and passion for wine come together.

Johann Stein arrived in Australia in 1838, bringing with him select Riesling cuttings — the first to survive in Australia — and the viticultural expertise that would shape generations to come. In 1976, Robert and Lorna Stein established Stein Winery on 25 acres of prime viticulture land in Mudgee. Today, the vineyard and winery are in the hands of second-generation Andrew Stein and third-generation winemaker Jacob Stein.

With vines approaching 40 years old, Stein Winery continues to produce some of Mudgee’s most awarded wines — a legacy of family, integrity, and 50 years of winemaking excellence.
