Christ didn’t say, “Love humanity.” He said, “Love your enemies and do good to those who hate you.”

He said, “It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell.”


He didn’t say, “Try to be a nice person.” He said, “If anyone would come after me, let him *deny himself* and take up his cross and follow me.”

We need the grace of God to follow God.

Happy All Hallow’s Eve!

People celebrate different things today, but historically this is the day before All Saints Day, a feast to celebrate all the saints who’ve gone before us and ran a good race.

Christ is risen, and death and Satan have already lost. It’s just a matter of time.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.”

Just a humbly offered thought. I’ve been hungry before. It’s no fun. If you’re concerned for people who will lose SNAP, or just know someone who is maybe going without, consider trying to get a home cooked meal to them. Or groceries. Lots of people would never ask.

Even if SNAP is reinstated, anonymously gifting a thanksgiving turkey and some hot cocoa might make a kid’s week a much better one.

How to be a better friend 101:

Most people don’t let someone else finish their sentence or thought before they interrupt or start thinking about what they want to say. Listen. Really listen like you care.

Everyone wants respect. Don’t lie. Friends don’t lie to each other. But find something, anything, you can really respect about that person, and show them respect for it. How they treat their mother well. How they excel in sports. How they’re selfless. How they overcome childhood obstacles and succeed.

Most people I’ve met quickly turn conversations about themselves. Don’t do that. We all need to vent and be heard, but so do your friends.

Go out of your way to celebrate birthdays and achievements and little things.

The world is hard and cold and friendships under attack.

Doing these little things really can make someone’s life better.

(I’ve been crazy busy, Guys. But I’ll get some more videos up soon. In the meantime, I’m so glad so many of you are out there doing good things in the real world. Keep it up!)
