🚨 Warning: Misleading Practices by Bouygues Telecom 🚨
If Bouygues suggest switching you to a “Pro” contract for better speeds and service, be extremely cautious.
After being a loyal customer for over 20 years, I was encouraged to move to their “Pro” internet offer with promises of improved performance and priority support. No new contract was ever shown or signed.
Around a year later, the connection completely failed for six full weeks — during which customer service was unreachable on weekends, technical support was ineffective, and no follow-up was made despite repeated requests.
I had no choice but to sign up with another supplier, just to be able to continue running my business. The outage resulted in thousands of euros in losses.
Yet instead of acknowledging the failure, Bouygues are now demanding over €1,400 in cancellation fees, and have even passed the matter to a bailiff — despite never providing a working service or valid contract.
This isn’t just poor support — it’s a dishonest and unacceptable practice.
📢 If you’ve experienced similar treatment from Bouygues, speak up.
🔁 Share this to warn others.

Why Are French Estate Agents Ignoring YouTube While Feeding the Giants?
Another post, another sigh on a French RE forum— SeLoger and Leboncoin have raised their prices again. The usual responses followed: frustration, resignation, and the question, “What can we do?”
Here’s a thought: why do we keep investing in platforms that cost more and deliver diminishing returns, while ignoring one that is free, has massive reach, and offers real potential?
Yes, I’m talking about YouTube.
Let’s look at the numbers:
Leboncoin: ~63M clicks/month
SeLoger: ~21M clicks/month
YouTube: 122M visitors/day, each spending ~45 mins on average
In France: 50M+ YouTube users
Despite this, most agencies barely touch YouTube. Meanwhile, they willingly pay increasing fees to the same two platforms, year after year.
So I spent an hour researching estate agencies on YouTube to see how the industry is using it. I looked at 33 agencies — from national chains to independents — and the results were eye-opening:
🔹 #1: Leggett Immobilier – 42.1K subscribers (with a full production team)
🔹 #2: Suzanne in France – 9.9K (independent agency in Normandy)
🔹 #3: My own agency – 9.6K
🔹 #4: My personal channel – 6.3K
🔹 #5: Agence & Co – another Normandy indie
Notably, 4 of the top 5 are English-run. A different mindset? Probably.
Kretz and Stéphane Plaza — both with pro teams — come in 6th and 7th, around 5.7K each. Then Beaux Villages, IAD (5.2K), and Guy Hoquet (5K). After that, it’s a sharp decline — 20th place has just over 1K followers.
Some oddities: Emile Garcin with 464 subscribers… and 3,439 videos. AXO Immo? Just 14 subscribers in 3 years.
Here’s the takeaway:
Most agencies are searching for alternatives to SeLoger and Leboncoin — but aren’t doing anything different. YouTube is a proven model, free to use, and highly effective for building visibility, trust, and mandates.
And no — you don’t need to be a digital influencer. Just be you. These days, people want authenticity. They want to see who they’re dealing with — not just logos and listings.
If you’re an estate agent in France, the question isn’t “Should I be on YouTube?” The question is: Why aren’t you already?
💬 I'd love to hear your thoughts — are you using YouTube in your agency? What’s holding you back?

Potential Voting Restrictions and US Consulate Closures for US Citizens in France
If you're an American living in France, there are a couple of changes on the horizon that could impact you.
First up is the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, H.R. 22. Though it was dismissed by the Senate last year, it has resurfaced and could make voting from abroad far more complicated.
The biggest concern? A proposed requirement to prove US citizenship in person when registering to vote or updating your registration. In other words, no more online registration—meaning overseas voters might have to travel back to the US just to maintain their right to vote.
Another major issue to watch is the possible closure of several US consulates in France. According to Politico, former President Trump’s proposed restructuring of the State Department could lead to the closure of four US consulates: Bordeaux, Lyon, Rennes, and Strasbourg. If this plan moves forward, it would leave only the US Consulate in Marseille and the US Embassy in Paris—significantly reducing access to consular services for Americans in France. This could make everything from passport renewals to emergency assistance far more complicated.
So far, the State Department has neither confirmed nor denied these plans, but it is worrying all the same.
