I’ve always believed that the purpose of language is to achieve effective communication. With Aimee, I strive to use language without restrictions and in a disruptive way. Aimee embodies both what I was taught to be and what I was never taught to be. She is the fusion of the behavior I was supposed to avoid with the behavior I was taught to adopt. To the rhythm of dancehall, rap, drill, trap… I raise my voice and show that I can be whatever I decide, whenever I decide—backing up those versions of myself with my flute.
