A good day out in SEK!
So I headed out to Pittsburg with ‪@jellostrains‬ ‪@BNSFrailfan01‬ and ‪@Kansasrailfan6022‬ to railfan. After the original plan was to chase UP 1943 on the yearly Toys For Tots run, which didn’t go to plan since it didn’t pass Fort Worth over night, we planned to railfan in the Pittsburg area. Me and Jellow started off seeing a Ballast train in Coffeyville yard. We would then proceed to Pitt after getting word that CKR caught two trains that both had KCSM grey ghost. We caught KCSM 4567 in the middle of CPKC 263 and minutes later see KCSM 4503 come in on a light power move. Right after those trains passed by, a UP Coal train with a CP SD70ACu! After that, the CPKC Holiday Train would be lined on a flashing read into the yard for a crew change. According to the Pittsburg yard master, this train would be referred to as the “Ho Ho Train”. We would eventually meet up with CKR and Kansas Railfan to get the Holiday Train going fast in Frontenac. Then the next train, a BNSF run through coal train came through with an ACe leader! What a good day in SEK!

Decent day out in Coffeyville!
Today after church, I had nothing to do, so I went to Coffeyville to see what I could find. I got to town just to see a manifest leaving, bringing my hopes down, I got to the yard just to see headlights in the distance. I got to the south part of the yard to see that a manifest was coming in. This manifest had some MOW cars in the front of the train so that was neat! We would watch the train work the yard and then go home. What a day back from my 2 month long hiatus!

So railfanners, I’m gonna give you an update.

I’ve been busier than expected, and well, I will be really busy till May. So I’ll be on hiatus until Thanksgiving and Christmas Breaks. I got a lot of stuff from school, and sports. So till then, I won’t be posting much, maybe shorts but I don’t know.

Also, we are closing in on 300 subs. When we hit 300, I’ll pause the hiatus and make a 300 sub special.

A somewhat good 10 minutes on the Coffeyville sub!
So I had planned to go search for UP 1988, the MKT or Katy heritage unit, but on my way to Coffeyville, I heard it was not even there. So I still made the 20 minute trek to town, and got scared by a double coal train, I didn’t get a picture of the head end, as it was in the trees, but I got the rest of the DPUs. After that train passed I headed to the yard, just to find it empty, as I expected it to be. All I saw was DNCV power idling on the power track, and UP 4010 sitting on the other power track by itself. Honestly not bad since I’ve made several attempts to go see SKOL, since it’s had an SD40-2 trio running 204/205 trains, but I’ve failed every single time.
