We’re making it easier for you to define the culture of your channels by expanding access to channel guidelines for creators with intermediate and advanced features and, for the first time, bringing them to Communities. Channel Guidelines are still rolling out across Communities, and viewers should see it appear on your Community soon. This update is designed to help you foster the type of participation you want to see across comments, live chats, and your Communities.

More info 📝:
- You set the rules: You can create up to 3 channel guidelines. You have control over the rules you choose, provided they don’t violate YouTube’s Community Guidelines.
- Visibility for viewers: If you have channel guidelines enabled, viewers will see them the first time they comment, chat and post to your Community and at the top of your videos’ comment sections
- Acknowledgement: Before anyone can participate in your comments, live chats, or Communities, they must complete a one-time acknowledgment of your guidelines.
- Set-up: If you want to set up these guidelines for your channel, navigate to YouTube Studio on a desktop device > click on Channel Settings > Community Moderation > the Channel Guidelines tab.
- Eligibility: Channel guidelines are now available to creators with access to intermediate and advanced features on YouTube.
- You can also check out our Help Center article here: goo.gle/4qeQZT6

Channel guidelines make it easier for you to establish how you want people to treat each other in your comments, live chats, and Communities. We’re excited more creators will have access to this important feature - we’ll keep you updated on our expansion plans!

We’re launching the ability to stream across formats!

📹 Streaming across formats:
- This new feature automatically crops your horizontal live streams into vertical layouts within YouTube Studio, while also providing a single, unified chat experience for your viewers.
-The option to stream vertically is great for instances when the focus of your stream is centered in the frame (like just chatting, IRL, and facecam streams).
- Try it out from YouTube Studio on desktop devices:
Navigate to your Live Control Room > Stream Settings > Layout > Select “Dual stream.” After that, you can go Live from Studio and the vertical layout will be automatically generated from your horizontal stream.
- Viewers in the Shorts feed on mobile will be shown vertical streams. Outside of the Shorts feed, your audience will see the horizontal layout.

📱Vertical live streams in the Shorts feed:
- Vertical live streams are shown in the Shorts feed on mobile devices.
- This opportunity for connection across all the different places that people watch YouTube.

Streaming across formats is rolling out to all eligible creators over the next few weeks. Stay tuned for related updates in the coming months (crop templates to accommodate different content types, 3P encoder eligibility rollout, and more!)

- Edit with AI handles the initial heavy lifting of content creation by arranging the best moments from your camera roll so you can jump straight to the fun part of editing: refining the story, perfecting the timing, and adding your own personal style to make your Short unique before you publish the final product
- Edit with AI will be available via Shorts creation tools in the main YouTube app on both iOS and Android devices and the YouTube Create app on Android. Info on the app here: yt.be/help/createHC
- To get started with the tool, select images or videos from your camera roll and choose from a variety of editing styles to help kickstart your content

Expanding the ability to hype a video to new markets!

Over the past year, we’ve been testing a new feature to help smaller creators get recognized by their community and potentially be discovered by new audiences. Now, we’re expanding this feature to more countries so viewers in eligible countries will be able to “hype” a video published in the last 7 days.

Every week, viewers will be able to hype videos up to three times at no cost. The more that viewers hype a video, the more likely it is to land on a new leaderboard with other top hyped videos each week. The leaderboard will appear as a new destination under the Explore section.

For now, eligibility is limited to creators from select countries with between 500 and 500K subs, and whose videos adhere to our Community Guidelines. Full list of eligibility criteria (including the newly added countries) in our Help Center here: support.google.com/youtube/answer/15509925

We’ll continue to test and gather feedback to inform how we roll this out more broadly in the future!
