Piotr Matusik – Polish pianist, keyboardist, and composer, born in 1991 in Bielsko-Biała. A graduate of the Jazz Department at the Academy of Music in Katowice, he studied under prof. Wojciech Niedziela, with whom he performs as a piano duo. He is a recipient of the 2019 "Young Poland" scholarship and teaches at the University of Silesia (Cieszyn campus).
He is the leader of NEW ELECTRIC TRIO, a project dedicated to the legacy of Chick Corea, blending jazz, fusion, and improvisation with a modern touch. The trio explores Corea’s musical universe while adding their own artistic voice to his compositions and spirit.
As a composer, Matusik won 1st prizes at the BJazz Composition Contest (Belgium, 2016) and the Fidelio Piano Composition Competition (Spain, 2020). His piece "Eternal July" appears on "Polished" by Bartosz Dworak Quartet. Notable works include "Nemesis" for violin, piano, and string orchestra, and a Concerto for Improvising Alto Saxophone and Piano (2020).
