I’m Nicola, 55, a mum of four adult children, sharing my life between Italy and Kuala Lumpur. Growing up in a vibrant, mixed Malaysian heritage, I learned to cook from a young age. I have a deep love for food and have always travelled for food, it’s been my compass, guiding me to new cultures, flavours, and stories.
Now, I’m daringly embracing life in my mid-50s, exploring flavour, culture, and exploration through culinary adventures around the world. I share soulful recipes, meet amazing people, and celebrate food as a universal language.
Nicola Adventures is my passion project, a legacy of love, flavour, and culture, and my way of leaving a meaningful mark in the world while exploring it to the fullest.
Join me on this journey of recipes, food adventures, and life lived boldly, wherever the flavours take us.

Coming back to the stunning beaches of Malaysia. Snorkelling in the most beautiful waters… nothing feels more healing than this.
I’ve been missing from posting for a while since I got back because I’ve been soaking in everything I’ve missed: family, food, and all the little adventures around my homeland.
I hope you’re all doing great. I’ll be back soon enough. 🤍

Hi my lovely friends 🌺
It has been a week since I returned to Kuala Lumpur, and these days have been filled with quiet moments of gratitude and reflection. I finally managed to record my first video since coming back, and it will be ready to share in the next couple of days.
I wanted to take a moment to let you know that I’m doing well and to ask how you’ve been. I’ve spent some time catching up with your videos and it reminded me how much I’ve missed being present and connecting with all of you.
This pause has been a time to breathe and take in everything around me.
Sharing a moment in front of my favourite Twin Towers, which still happen to be the tallest twin towers in the world.
Hope you’re all keeping well, and I’m wishing you a peaceful and beautiful week ahead. 🤍

I’ve landed safely in my beautiful homeland, Malaysia. 🇲🇾 It was a lovely trip, and on my second leg, I even made friends with a tour group.
I’m in a happy zone being surrounded by family again. The time difference, with Kuala Lumpur being hours ahead of Italy, and the long flight have kept my sleep a little off. It’s 4 AM here in Kuala Lumpur and I’m wide awake, catching up on all your videos that are keeping me company.
I’ve already been out enjoying all my favourite local dishes that I missed so much.
The ASEAN Summit is literally happening nearby where I live, and Trump is in town for it. With leaders from all over the world here, there are road closures everywhere. The summit runs from Sunday through Tuesday, so I’ll use this time to stay in, edit my upcoming videos, and get back to consistent posting in the next few days.
Thank you all so much for your prayers, kind messages, and constant encouragement. You’ve truly kept me going. 🤍
See you all super soon. I’m truly excited to bring you along for my next adventures. 🌏

Just landed safely from Milan to Dubai, and I’m just one more flight away from home.
I’ve changed my channel name from Nicola Recipes to Nicola Adventures. Why? Because while recipes will remain, this channel is now about Food Adventures and Beyond.
Nicola Recipes will now be the name of my full recipe playlist, so all your favorite recipes are still easy to find.
I hope you all are having a lovely week. I took a little time out, it’s been all about planning, prepping, and travel. I can’t wait to be back in my element soon and share everything I’ve been working on. 🌍

It’s a beautiful, cool fall day today, and I’m having something truly delicious. Among my favourite. I loved it as a child, and I love it even more as an adult. It’s a beautiful Malaysian dish. The video will be up this weekend. I hope you truly enjoy this one. Have a lovely weekend and week ahead. 🌺

This month, I’m celebrating the dishes I grew up loving back home in Kuala Lumpur, starting with my all-time favorite: Chicken Fried Rice.
It’s simple, satisfying, and full of that homestyle flavor I can never get enough of.

Cantonese Steamed Fish, the way my mom taught me.
It’s soft, flaky, and full of that beautiful soy and ginger aroma.
One of the easiest 15-minute meals and a true taste of home.

A New Chapter Begins
Many of you have been with me through countless recipes, stories, and kitchen moments, and I’m so grateful for this wonderful community. Lately, I’ve felt inspired to create something beyond the kitchen.
I’ve started a new channel called Next with Nicola, all about rebuilding in midlife, exploring growth, creativity, and what’s next in this season of life.
Here’s my very first video where I share why I started a second channel 💛
Thank you, as always, for being part of my journey, old beginnings, new chapters, and everything in between.

Happy First October Weekend, my friends.
It’s officially fall here in Northern Italy. The colors are changing, the air is crisp, and I’m cherishing the last blooms on my balcony.
Today feels like a moment to reflect on how each season’s shift is something special and how it shapes our mood and mindset in its own gentle way.
Wishing you all a peaceful start to October. What’s something you’re grateful for this season?
I’m grateful for life itself, the cool air, and the safety of all my four adult children. 🧡

Food is more than just recipes. It is memory, culture, and love.
For more than 50 + years, Kuala Lumpur was my home, a vibrant city where Chinese, Indian, and Malay traditions blended beautifully. It is where I grew up, cooked, and shared meals that became part of who I am.
In the next 6 recipes in October, I will be sharing a taste of that life with you, from Chinese stir-fry favorites to rich Indian curries and beloved Malay street food snacks. These include the staples we ate daily, the simple dishes I enjoyed growing up, my favorite street snacks, the flavors I fell in love with, and the lessons I learned from being part of such a rich Asian food culture.
It’s my birth month and I am so thankful for my growth in such a beautiful country called Malaysia.
