I'm a late diagnosed Autistic woman with ADHD, Aphantasia and a memory disorder called SDAM. This is my neurodivergent journey. I was formally diagnosed at age 42 with Autism & ADHD.
Aphantasia is the inability to voluntarily visualize in your mind's eye. I have five sense aphantasia.
SDAM stands for Severely Deficient Autobiographical Memory. Which is a lifelong inability to vividly recollect or re-experience personal past events from a first-person perspective.
Autism - dictionary definition: a developmental disorder of variable severity that is characterized by difficulty in social interaction and communication and by restricted or repetitive patterns of thought and behavior.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is marked by an ongoing pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development.

Sorry I'm delayed on putting out a video this week. Still recovering from my surgery and have been super low energy lately. Leave a comment with something fun you've done recently so I can cheer you on!
I did want to pop on here though and remind everyone it's World Autism Awareness Day. More people do need to actually be aware of what autism actually is, instead of common stereotypes. And everyday needs to be autism acceptance day.

Hysterectomy surgery is done! Surgery went well and now I'm spending time resting. For more on why I'm having the surgery check out my last video.

Hey everyone! I thought some of you might be interested in this sort of Get Ready with Me video I did a few days ago, talking about make-up and which products I like to use. Here's the link:

Some of you may know this, but a lot of you probably don't know. I also have a product review channel where I talk about products I love. Most of them I bought myself, but occasionally I have a brand send me something. I review it in my analytical AuDHD way! If you're looking for a vacuum mop combo I posted a video this morning. It's great because it pulls up debris like pet hair and mops at the same time. An ADHDers dream. Two tasks at once. Watch it here on The Neurospicy Mama channel. 🥰 Thanks! Leave a comment too, to help boost the video.

As an Autistic woman, my autistic mask is wanting to come back out in full force the past couple of days. My brain wants to rely on the trauma response of shutting up, getting small, and blending in for safety.
Every single post/video I've made over the last couple of days on various platforms (tiktok, YouTube & Threads) has been from a place of incredible mental strength. My own personal battle of I WON'T GO BACK. Masking almost killed me. I won't let myself go back to that false comfort. Speaking up right now is my own resistance.

Magic is doing so much better. She's sitting on my desk today "helping" me edit my book. But she's so alert, and happy looking. We've got a follow up appointment with the vet on Wednesday to learn more about the condition she was diagnosed with at the Emergency Vet. But from what I know, I think it's going to be all okay. She's only 7 so should still have a full life ahead of her.
I want to again thank everyone who sent me well wishes. I was extremely concerned she wasn't going to make it for a while there.

Hey everyone! I haven't been feeling well this week. I've injured my back and the pain is making it hard for me to do anything. I've been wanting to film a video, but I haven't been able to focus.
Tomorrow I have a physical therapist appointment and hopefully that will be the start of something healing. I do plan to be back as soon as I can, hopefully by this weekend at the very least.
I do count on the money I make from YouTube ads, so if you've got time and interest, I'd appreciate you watching one of my older videos you may have missed.
This ABCs of Autism is a good one!

I really believe people with ADHD don't form habits. Tonight I got in the shower. Put conditioner in my hair. Put face soap on my face while it was conditioning. Then turned around to rinse the conditioner out of my hair as face soap poured in my eyes. I forgot to wash the face soap off! 🤦♀️I don't have a habit in the shower. I have to think of each step, each time.
I have an older video on the topic:

This Autistic momma has twin Autistic 16 year olds that are in drivers ed. I just took my daughter out for her second practice drive and y'all, I got a high five at the end. The first one had frustration and tears, but today went so well! This is really hard for her, but I know she can do it. I know many autistic people don't get their license and that's okay too.
