At Christmas we celebrate advent. The word advent means “coming” and it’s at Christmas that we celebrate the coming of King Jesus.
Traditionally, Hosanna was sung as an expression of praise but it is also a cry for deliverance. As we celebrate the coming of King Jesus to earth at Christmas it’s fitting to sing Hosanna and give praise to the One who has delivered us. But we are also awaiting the return of the King when our hope, salvation and deliverance will be fully realized.
This Christmas I invite you believe in Jesus Christ and to sing “Hosanna In The Highest” as an expression of praise to Jesus, the King, who has come and delivered us from sin. I also invite you to sing “Hosanna In The Highest” in continuing faith and anticipation for the day He returns when we will worship Him, singing with all of heaven, “Hosanna in the highest, blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”

Some thoughts on Hope…
Hope is not just a far off wish or a vague desire for things to be better than they are now. It’s not a bait and switch to keep your chin up when things are difficult in the present - it is much more powerful than that. True hope, the kind described in scripture, is actually that we will experience - the reality of a restoration of life in heaven. It is a restoration into the life we were originally created by God to have on that has marred by sin and death in this present earth.
This hope is fully embodied in Jesus Christ, our forerunner who is already where we will someday be. This hope is the anchor of our soul as we wait with anticipation for this perfectly restored future.
“This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells], [Lev 16:2] where Jesus has entered [in advance] as a forerunner for us, having become a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. [Ps 110:4]”

The glimpses we have had of love, joy and peace are the eternal longings written on the heart of man - the ones that deep down all humanity knows they were created for. Hope tells us with confidence that there will be day when the fullness of those longings will become reality. The only hope we have and the only hope worth having is in Jesus Christ.
