Hi, I’m Jane — a retired math teacher who took piano lessons from age 12 to 17. I’m far from a skilled pianist, just a happily imperfect one who never stopped loving 🎹.

After retiring to Florida, I began playing for seniors with Alzheimer’s at a nearby residence where my husband’s aunt lived. They didn’t care about mistakes — they just loved singing along. Their warmth and joy helped me overcome stage fright and inspired me to start this channel in 2009.

Here you’ll find slow, clear piano tutorials that make it easier to check notes, fingering, and rhythm. Some say this isn’t “real” teaching — and they’re right, in a way.

As master teacher Seymour Bernstein said:

“Getting all the notes right, the rhythm right, the dynamics right will mean nothing unless we make a physical [muscular] connection to the musical feeling.”

If my videos help you get started, I encourage you to also learn from the many master teachers on YouTube — their insights can take you far beyond the notes.

We all need to be aware of PUMP & DUMP schemes. My YouTube channel was hacked on Aug 7 by these crooks. The following is excerpted from the Harvard Business School Aug 25, 2025 newsletter.

Is cryptocurrency the new frontier for Ponzi schemes?

In a pump and dump, an investment is touted by people who get the price to rise quickly, and then the promoters sell large amounts of their holdings at a profit causing the price to plummet. Many of the crypto offerings clearly are too volatile to be an effective store of value or an effective means of exchange. Yet, you see their values dramatically rising and falling based on touting. This doesn’t look all that different in some instances from what pump and dumps looks like in stock market.

Thank you so much for your comments. The revenue-sharing list began with what I showed in the image, and I expected many more to follow, but none have so far. This copyright issue has been escalated to Partner Support, and the team has been incredibly patient, caring, and helpful — I’m truly grateful.

Yesterday, an email from a fellow pianist pulled me out of my frustration and reminded me why I started. I’ve decided to keep the channel going.

I would like to share the pianist's wise words with all of you:

"While YouTube's Content ID system certainly has its flaws, we should consider the enormous scale they're operating at. With billions of hours of content uploaded and hundreds of millions of copyright claims processed annually, the platform faces challenges that no individual creator could possibly resolve alone. Interestingly, statistics show that only about 1% of claims are actually disputed, yet among those that are, over 60% are successful - suggesting that while the system isn't perfect, it does provide meaningful recourse for legitimate disputes.

As frustrating as these issues are, I think it's worth remembering that YouTube has provided us with an unprecedented platform to share our knowledge and creativity with global audiences - something that would have been unimaginable just decades ago. For many creators, including educational channels like yours, it has also provided financial opportunities, however modest they might be for some of us.

As early adopters of the platform, we've been fortunate to witness and benefit from the digital revolution in content creation. While the platform certainly isn't without its problems, I believe we owe it some measure of gratitude for the opportunities it has provided."

Getting ready to say goodbye to this channel. Most of my work is saved in the clouds. So I can upload them to another hosting platform. Will ask Meta about it. Some of them are on Vimeo already. [Edit 8.14.25 Your kind comments made me reconsider. Will keep the channel going.]
Let's be happy and play a lot of piano ❤
