UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) makes connections, shares resources, engages the community and builds on an impressive UC San Diego foundation of expertise in medical research, education and patient care. The Institute provides resources and infrastructure that enable researchers to perform leading-edge clinical research in a more collaborative and cost-effective way.
ACTRI partner research institutions include San Diego State University, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Salk Institute, La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology, and J. Craig Venter Institute. ACTRI also collaborates with Rady Children’s Hospital and the VA San Diego Health Care System, and partners with many community-based organizations.
Translation is the process of turning observations in the laboratory, clinic and community into interventions that improve the health of individuals and the public.
