ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID)

The ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), headquartered in Lomé, Togo, is the Development Finance Institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Established in 1975 as the ECOWAS Fund for Cooperation, Compensation and Development, it began operations in 1979 to promote regional integration and economic development.

In 1999, the Fund was restructured into the EBID Group with two subsidiaries dedicated to public and private sector financing. To improve efficiency and development impact, both entities were merged in 2006 into a single institution operating through public and private financing windows. Since January 2007, EBID has supported socio‑economic development and improved livelihoods across the ECOWAS region.
