I loved everything about this film. The themes of brotherhood, masculinity, vulnerability, and the exploration of the shadow self were just exquisite. Also loved seeing anime references made all throughout. It’s clear that while directing, MBJ was repping for the members of our community who are cast out for not moving through the lens of our stereotypes. And even still, he didn’t shy away from our tropes. 5 stars🌟

This Tyre Nichols story is so deeply disturbing that I don’t even have to words to fully dissect it. The officers responsible for his death are a complete disgrace to our community and deserve to be thrown under the jail. From what I’ve learned, Tyre was the kind of light that we need more of in this world. A pure spirit. A genuinely kindred soul. I’m saddened by what was done to him. Angry at those who did it. And disgusted by the way it’s being broadcasted in the media. The officers have been charged so at this point…whatever happens to them, so be it.
RIP Tyre🕊.
You did not deserve this. Your family did not deserve this. Another father removed from the home at the hands of evil doers. But Jah know, the consequences will echo through their family trees for generations to come.
