VCET, established in 2001 by the Vellalar Educational Trust (formed in 1969), is a co-educational engineering college affiliated with Anna University and approved by AICTE. It offers 9 UG, 5 PG, and 3 PhD research programs, with over 3100 students currently enrolled. Accredited by NBA and granted autonomous status in 2016, VCET follows the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and Outcome Based Education (OBE) aligned with the Washington Accord to ensure holistic, student-centric learning. The campus features modern facilities including a digital library, separate hostels, and extensive transport services. Students are encouraged to engage in academics, co- and extracurricular activities, with support through scholarships, mentorship, placement drives, and entrepreneurship programs.
