Camp iHope is a week long summer camp experience for children 7 -16 years of age who have been diagnosed with cancer and their sibling. Camp provides the opportunity to “just be kids.” To give back a piece of their childhood that cancer has robbed from them. Camp is truly an important part of the healing process. Campers tell us they love coming to camp because they get the opportunity to “be normal” and be around others “who get it”. The activities are fun, but more than that, by participating in canoeing or climbing the Alpine Tower; teaches kids that they can do it! Camp is the shot in the arm so to speak that gets them through that next round of chemotherapy…gives them the hope and stamina they need to get through their next year of treatment…and the years of survivorship to come. Camp provides fun…and so much more…camp creates a sense of belonging, creates another family and in essence …Camp heals. Every child impacted by cancer deserves a place like Camp iHope.
