If your vote isn't important, then why are there so many efforts to suppress it?

Our mission is Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy. We've been nonpartisan, activist, and grassroots since 1920. We provide unbiased nonpartisan information on early voting or voter registration. We take a stand on issues, but do not support candidates or political parties.

The League of Women Voters South Hampton Roads is a local League based in Virginia. Our area includes Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk and Virginia Beach.

The League of Women Voters operates as a federated membership organization with a structure that includes local, state, and national levels. Joining a local League automatically makes an individual a member of both their state League and the League of Women Voters of the United States. The national League of Women Voters maintains this federated structure to coordinate advocacy, education, and litigation across more than 800 local and state leagues.
