XY ENTHUSIAST

I keep seeing some dumbshippers claim Ash loved Misty because of blushing and jealousy, and they call that love. Even if we pretend those moments were love (which they weren’t). But if you look closely, almost all of these so called moments come from the Orange Islands(season 2). The evidence Pokeshippers always bring up, Ash blushing when Team Rocket teases him, Ash acting jealous, and so on, are nearly all from those season. If Ash really loved Misty, then why did those moments completely disappear after the Orange Islands? Johto had over 100 episodes, and yet Ash never blushed for Misty again, never acted jealous again,That alone proves it wasn’t love. Actually the Orange Islands were basically a filler like arc, created while the next generation of games was still being developed. So it’s obvious the writers threw in some lighthearted gags for entertainment, and once the saga ended, they dropped it completely. If Pokeshipping were truly beautifully developed, then those moments wouldn’t have disappeared overnight. But they did. The fact that there were no such like moments from Ash’s side in Johto or beyond even though they had like 100+ episodes which makes it clear, the writers threw Pokeshipping in trash. This is why their fandom today has nothing left but to force random parallels between other characters and pretend they mean something. Ash never loved Misty. The hints were temporary filler gags, nothing more. That’s why writers never revisited them, while real ships like Amourshipping got consistent, intentional buildup and even a canon kiss and at the end it was left open ended.

XY ENTHUSIAST

Ok guys let’s talk about something many dumbshippers say that Serena’s love for Ash is the same from start to end, no development. I’m going to explain how Serena’s love for Ash actually develops throughout the series

Stage 1: Crush / Nostalgic Admiration (XY001 - XY026)

At the beginning, Serena has a mix of admiration and a crush on Ash, sparked when he helped her at summer camp. In this stage sometimes Serena sometimes tries to get his attention. You see her get jealous or uneasy when other girls approach Ash, like with Miette offering Poké Puffs. Her feelings here are mostly admiration and bit of infatuation she doesn’t fully understand or express romantic love yet. This is the “I like him because he’s amazing” phase. But things started to change after this stage.

Stage 2: Something Deeper (XY026 - XY058)

In this stage, Serena begins to really know him, caring about his dreams and struggles. When Ash disappears in that cave of trials episode her intense worry and tears show her feelings are more serious than a crush. They share a heart to heart conversation about dreams in XY039, showing her emotional growth and a shift toward partnership and responsibility.

Stage 3: Definite Love and Open Expression(XY059- XY123)

Serena’s feelings now clearly move from crush to love. She openly entertains romantic feelings, like thinking about going on a date with Ash. Others, like Bonnie and Shauna, start to notice Serena’s love for Ash at this stage. Even in this stage she openly admitted that she likes Ash to Shauna. At the end of the Kalos quest her feelings start to get more mature for example when Serena chooses to go with Clemont to dance for the sake of evee even when she was still interested to dance with Ash, it shows her feelings have matured. This stage confirms her love for Ash is obvious and serious.

Stage 4: Companionate Love (Deep Romantic Commitment) (XY124 - Present)

Their relationship deepens and strengthens during this stage. In XY124, Serena stands by Ash at his lowest point even though Ash hurts her emotionally, she perseveres through a heavy blizzard to bring him back, showing just how much she cares. Despite being forced to pause her search until it was safe, her determination never wavered. Throughout the Kalos League, Serena demonstrates more faith in Ash than their other friends, confidently believing he’ll come out on top. Even when Ash loses to Alain, Serena remains proud, understanding that Ash is happy with how things turned out. She expresses genuine joy when Ash wins over Sawyer, helping him overcome the depression that followed. In Pokémon Journeys, their reunion continues to show companionate love, as they share their goals Ash to be the best battler, Serena to be the best coordinator encouraging and cheering each other on from afar. This mature, committed bond is the perfect example of companionate love.
