In that chart from Ash to Serena it says[なかま!] (nakama!) and since it’s written in hiragana, Google Translate simply gives the meaning as “colleague.” But the real meaning of nakama is much deeper than that. "Nakama” refers to a deep bond beyond ordinary friendship,people who stand together, share burdens, grow together, and support each other like a found family. In Japanese nakama is actually considered a higher and stronger term than tomodachi (friend). So in this context it shows that Ash and Serena’s bond is very strong and meaningful. And we already saw this clearly in the anime, whenever Serena needed help Ash was always there for her and whenever Ash needed support Serena was right by his side. Remember how Ash even said, “Serena, your words were my wake up call”, after she helped him from his depression. That alone proves how strong their bond is!
