The Institute of Indonesian Engineers/Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) was established on May 23, 1952 in Bandung by Ir. Djuanda Kartawidjaja and Dr. Ir. Rooseno Soeryohadikoesoemo. PII is the largest and oldest professional organization of engineers in Indonesia that is acknowledged by Engineer Act 2014. In 1989, some of the PII’s Board of Trustees include: Ir. Aburizal Bakrie, Prof. Dr. Ir. Kuntoro, M. Eng., Prof. Dr. Surna Tjahja Djajadiningrat, and Ir. Indracahya Kusumasubrata, IPU decided to form a Board of Industrial Engineering Chapter (BKTI) as one of the chapter bodies of The Institute of Indonesian Engineers (PII).
