Hi! I am Itija, pottery artist living nearby lake Usma in Latvia (Europe). My love for nature inspires me to create black ceramic dishes and interior items.

Recently I discovered that I can best express my creative spirit by working with clay. So I decided to share my happiness and work with others and opened my own Etsy shop - ClayAndWoodDESIGNs.

Black (reduced) pottery is made of clay without ceramic glaze. All the items are made only by hands without using pottery lathe. The fire in the wood fired kiln and oxygen reduction process creates a unique silvery black color - that's how my black pottery items are made! That's why they are unique and you can be sure that another one like that can't be found anywhere else in the world!
