Oni Cave –
We’re taking a 1996 Daihatsu kei van and turning it into the ultimate off-road overlander. We like everyone who has a kei vehicle knows the problems with these vehicles, lack of power, lack of wheel travel, lack of comfort, did I mention lack of power. We are rebuilding our van Oni from the ground up, modifying everything. We hope to learn what works and what doesn't so you can also build an inexpensive overlanding vehicle.
But this isn’t about wrenching in a garage forever. We’re building Oni so we can hit the dirt, cross mountains, and push this tiny beast through North America and beyond—maybe even into Central and South America. To make it happen, we need to upgrade our shop with serious tools—plasma CNC, tube benders, the works.
This is about the journey, the chaos, and proving that you don’t need a massive rig to have a massive adventure. So if you’re into dirt, dust, and a little bit of madness, you’re in the right place.
