Asylum Day One (AD1) is a progressive metalcore project led by Ukrainian vocalist Michael V. Rybak, now based in North Carolina. AD1 combines modern metalcore with a narrative concept in which each track is a Resident, a self contained case file in a larger world.
Rybak fronted InSide, reaching the Global Battle of the Bands 2011 national finals, and releasing the EP My Cardiac Reset. His 2011 X Factor Ukraine audition earned four yeses and 3.5M views.
In 2012 he fronted a national tour with Morphine Suffering and co-wrote Згадай, Remember, a staple of their live set. The band later performed the single while opening for Parkway Drive and Dead by April in 2013, and Asking Alexandria in 2014. In 2015 Rybak returned as a guest at their sold out Kyiv concert.
Since 2017 in the United States, Rybak has refined AD1’s sound through focused collaborations. The project centers on high impact releases and performance ready arrangements, positioning itself for regional stages and beyond.
