Monkey Business, is a comedy that explores life’s unpredictability, emphasizing the importance of laughter and self-awareness. Inspired by real life events, the story follows Dr. Tomlin and her friends, filmmaker and director J. Leo Uche, a multi-talented singer, musician, and five-time national martial arts champion from Nigeria, and the late Dr. Bjorn Holmes, a Swedish psychologist who became disillusioned by the American healthcare system. The three friends met in The Gambia, where they embarked on a journey to confront their fears while staying at a government compound in the Monkey Park. Their adventure was filled with humorous moments, such as their drivers’ fear of entering the park due to ophidiophobia, the fear of snakes. Young people from Senegal to Nigeria have contributed to the Monkey Business movie, soundtrack, website, and book, and they will continue to collaborate on future projects.
