His work revitalized the role of the Hammond B-3 organ in jazz, bringing a fresh and soulful energy to the instrument. Joey was a five-time Grammy Award nominee and won numerous other accolades, including the DownBeat Critics Poll for Best Jazz Organist multiple times.
