Punjab Transport Company formerly known as Lahore Transport Company is wholly owned company of Government of Punjab, established in 2009 under section 42 of Companies’ Ordinance 1984 repealed with Companies Act 2017 registered with Registrar Joint Stock Companies.
The initial purpose of establishment of Punjab Transport Company (Lahore Transport Company) was to operate within the notified urban areas of city district Lahore as per section 72-A of Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 to provide efficient, safe, environmental friendly and affordable public transport facilities. Thereafter, the name of Lahore Transport Company was changed to Punjab Transport Company, as per the Minutes/ Decisions of the 43rd Provincial Cabinet Meeting. Furthermore, the jurisdiction of PTC was changed from Lahore to Punjab as per the Minutes/ Decisions of the 03rd Provincial Cabinet Meeting.
