When Baker Grissom first arrived in Music City after finishing college in Arkansas, the country singer-songwriter paid his dues waiting in lines outside places like The Bluebird Café and The Commodore. He learned some life lessons in those lines: patience pays off, dreams happen when you’re driven, and those people you meet in line will become your friends, co-writers and collaborators.
Meanwhile, back home, Grissom’s mother had entered her son’s song “Sunday” into Arkansas’ Alchemy Songwriting Competition, and he won. That led to a connection with hit songwriter Adam Hambrick – “Somebody Else Will,” “How Not To” -- who took Grissom under his wing and helped him navigate his first publishing deal. In a sea of songs that often touch on the same themes, Grissom’s stand out. After two million streams of his first releases, Grissom has brought in Grammy Award-winning producer Ben Fowler to cut his sophomore project, due out later this year.
