Pras Michel, the Grammy-winning rapper and co-founder of the Fugees, was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Thursday, November 20, 2025, for his role in an illegal foreign lobbying and campaign finance scheme.

Michel was convicted in April 2023 on 10 counts, including conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and acting as an unregistered foreign agent.

Pras Michel's case involved an illegal scheme to funnel millions of dollars in foreign money into Barack Obama's 2012 presidential re-election campaign.

Michel received over $120 million from Low Taek Jho, a fugitive Malaysian billionaire also known as Jho Low, who allegedly embezzled billions from the Malaysian 1MDB state investment fund.

U.S. law prohibits foreign nationals from contributing to U.S. election campaigns. Michel acted as a conduit, steering some of this foreign money to a joint fundraising committee and an independent expenditure committee supporting Obama's re-election.

According to court documents and testimony, Jho Low's primary motivation for the contributions was to gain access and potential influence within the Obama administration, and specifically, to obtain a photograph with then-President Obama.

A recent investigation by Declassified UK in collaboration with the Israeli newspaper Calcalist found that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son, Avner Netanyahu (who changed his name to Avner Segal), is struggling to sell a flat he owns in Oxford and is potentially facing a financial loss.

Avner Segal purchased the three-bedroom flat in an affluent Oxford neighborhood for £502,500 in October 2022.

The purchase was made without a mortgage, using money provided by his parents. Segal stated that this was all reported to the relevant tax authorities.

Segal put the apartment back on the market just 16 months later, in February 2025, with an asking price of £620,000.

After months of being unable to sell the property, the asking price was reduced.

The price has now been reduced to £500,000, which is below the original purchase price and would result in a £2,500 loss.

Segal changed his surname to his grandmother's maiden name, Segal, citing security concerns and a fear of being attacked in the UK if people knew he was related to the Israeli Prime Minister.

UNICEF has reported that an estimated 17,000 families in Gaza have been directly affected by recent severe weather, including heavy rains and flooding, which have destroyed their tents and exacerbated an already "catastrophic" humanitarian situation.

The UN has emphasized that the damage to infrastructure has made Gaza unable to cope with the harsh weather conditions.

Recent news regarding Jeffrey Epstein and Larry Summers centers on the release of thousands of emails by the House Oversight Committee, which have led to Summers stepping back from most public commitments. The correspondence reveals a cozy relationship between the two, with Summers seeking personal and romantic advice from Epstein and discussing women in a misogynistic manner.

The emails, spanning from 2013 until the day before Epstein's 2019 arrest, show that Summers maintained contact with the convicted sex offender long after his 2008 guilty plea for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

Summers, a former US Treasury Secretary and Harvard President, sought advice from Epstein on pursuing a romantic relationship with a woman he referred to as a "mentee". In one exchange, Epstein called himself Summers' "wing man".

The emails included exchanges where Summers made comments about women's intelligence and complained about the punishment of men for workplace misconduct during the #MeToo movement.

The communications also show discussions about Epstein potentially donating to a poetry project for Summers' wife, Elisa New, a Harvard professor. Summers also flew on Epstein's private jet on at least four occasions, including to the Virgin Islands in 2005.

In a statement released on Monday, November 17, Summers expressed "deep shame" for his actions and misguided decision to continue communicating with Epstein, and announced he would be stepping back from public commitments, though he will continue teaching at Harvard.

Irish novelist Sally Rooney has called for an end to the "shocking mistreatment" of prisoners linked to Palestine Action in the UK.

In a recent statement to The Guardian, Rooney urged ministers to engage with those on hunger strike and improve their conditions and bail terms. She highlighted that four UN special rapporteurs had already raised concerns about the treatment of these prisoners as early as November.

Despite warnings from Downing Street that supporting a proscribed organization is a serious offence under the Terrorism Act, Rooney reiterated her intention to continue using the proceeds of her work to support Palestine Action and "direct action against genocide".

Due to her ongoing public support, Rooney has been advised that she can no longer safely enter the UK without risking arrest, forcing her to cancel public engagements, including an awards ceremony in September 2025.
