A recent investigation by Declassified UK in collaboration with the Israeli newspaper Calcalist found that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's son, Avner Netanyahu (who changed his name to Avner Segal), is struggling to sell a flat he owns in Oxford and is potentially facing a financial loss.

Avner Segal purchased the three-bedroom flat in an affluent Oxford neighborhood for £502,500 in October 2022.

The purchase was made without a mortgage, using money provided by his parents. Segal stated that this was all reported to the relevant tax authorities.

Segal put the apartment back on the market just 16 months later, in February 2025, with an asking price of £620,000.

After months of being unable to sell the property, the asking price was reduced.

The price has now been reduced to £500,000, which is below the original purchase price and would result in a £2,500 loss.

Segal changed his surname to his grandmother's maiden name, Segal, citing security concerns and a fear of being attacked in the UK if people knew he was related to the Israeli Prime Minister.
