I was quite impressed with my pronunciation of Ratonhnhaké:ton in my AC3 story video… until release day when the comments let me know otherwise. This story was a tough one to put together. I wanted to keep the early twist hidden the same way Ubisoft did, which made it tricky but also really rewarding.

It’s such a powerful story and very well executed by Ubisoft. I hope I did it justice. It’s also my longest AC story to date, so grab some snacks if you watch it over the weekend. And with all that snow in the game, it feels pretty apt for this time of year.

Assassin’s Creed Revelations. Controversially my favourite of the Ezio trilogy. Maybe it’s because I’m older now, but I related to his mellowing, especially with his romance with Sofia Sartor.

He was quiet and thoughtful here, a world away from the 17 year old at the start of AC2. I loved Revelations. Watch my retelling if you’re bored this weekend.

The Last of Us Part II. What a phenomenal game. I remember doing a let’s play before making this and right up until that rompy scene with Abby I thought she was gay. There was a line early on in the snow I misheard, and I was convinced she used to be in a relationship with Mel. No one corrected me.

This is a great story and well retold if I don’t say so myself. At the time the video did really badly, but years later it picked up again with the success of the TV show.

The difficult third game was blown out of the park by Ubisoft. The jump from 1 to 2 was enormous, and even though the leap from 2 to Brotherhood was smaller, the improvement they made was astounding.

I love the story, love the lore, and love me some Renaissance Rome. Around this time I was really honing my craft, figuring out how to make these longer story videos flow the way I wanted them to.

I was trying to catch the same algorithm with this one as I did with the RDR1 story recap. It didn’t work. I remember being so crestfallen at the time that I abandoned my work on Horizon Forbidden West.

These days I don’t attach success to the numbers. If I enjoy the world I’ll tell the stories. I’ll go back to the Forbidden West one day.

This video is worth a watch though. I should rebrand it soon as the title and thumbnail feel a bit dated now.

This one was made at the start of the pandemic, when I was at the lowest point in my life. I was riddled with anxiety, suffering from Hashimoto’s, and on the edge of a breakdown. Making this video was a crucial tool to keep my head above water, and it remains my most hard won and treasured piece of work.

I’m happy to say I’ve made a complete recovery since then, never to return.

This one dives into the lore of the infected in The Last of Us. The Days Gone lore video had done really well so I thought I’d try the same approach here. It never took off in the same way, but I think it might still be my favourite.

A lot of the comments said it felt like a nature documentary, and I took that to heart. That feedback shaped how I approached storytelling from then on, adding more of that documentary vibe into future videos.

This was made during the most magical time for the channel. I was swept up in the hype of the release for The Last of Us Part II and creating the story of Part I, then later covering Part II, was a profound experience.

It lit up the community with so much passion, and through these videos and playthroughs I was able to share in that atmosphere with you.

The release of The Last of Us show brought another wave of viewers and reminded me how much this world still resonates.

I hope we see a Part III one day.
