It's just over three hours until my Animal Farm (1954) watch party! I will be providing commentary only and chatting with all of you, rather than showing the film itself as it is still under copyright here in Britain. However, it is in the public domain in most of the world and it is otherwise very easy to find a copy to purchase or watch on YouTube, based on your local availibility. Tune in at 9 pm British time and bring your popcorn to munch while we enjoy a movie that not only was Britain's first feature length animated film, but also the first commercial theatrical release funded by the CIA. (Or was it????)
To wrap up the Animal Farm Book Club, let's watch the 1954 film adaptation of Animal Farm together! This film is NOT in the public domain here in Britain where I live, so I can't stream the film itself. I will be providing film commentary and chatting with all of you in this live stream. This film is in the public domain in most of the world and it's quite easy to find your own copy to watch. Please choose some nice comfy clothes and your favorite treat to enjoy and come ready to vote on how many Snapes this film adaptation deserves. Here's the link for the livestream! youtube.com/live/uASLkYXA6E0?feature=share
My reading of Chapter 6 of Animal Farm by George Orwell is up on my storytelling channel! Apologies again about the delay but I had a computer crash a few weeks ago and had to sort through all of that. The remaining four chapters are on the way soon. Be sure to subscribe to Storytime with TQ Townsend for more audio books. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUDNI...
The Animal Farm Book Club meets in just under 3 hours! Tune in for discussion of chapter 10 and a retrospective of the whole book. youtube.com/live/9qO5fjVs3SM?feature=share
Is your day a bit crazy? Is the news depressing? Or, ideally, are you just really enjoying a beautiful day? Over on my storytelling channel I've started uploading relaxing videos, and the first installation is a trio of springtime poems by William Wordsworth.
These three poems are accompanied by birdsong and images of springtime flowers in English gardens to help you unwind. I have used a light Northern accent to give the poems the correct rhyming sound and have tried to read them in a relaxing ASMR style.
"I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" is a poem that Wordsworth wrote in 1804, two years after a pleasant spring walk that he took with his little sister Dorothy along the shores of Ullswater. The pair saw a breathtaking stretch of daffodils, and only those who have visited the Lake District in spring can know how pretty such as sight is.
"The Green Linnet" was written about the beautiful songbird that sadly has seen its numbers decline catastrophically in recent decades. Once prized for its beautiful song, the linnet is now growing scarce and its song is less known.
"Lines Written in Early Spring" reflects on the breathtaking beauty of nature while also sadly reflecting on the cruelty that human beings can inflict upon one another.
I am sorry about not getting the audiobook chapters out on my other channel this week. A combination of spring break, a cold, life, work, blah blah blah caught up with me. I'll have them out soon.
Here are the questions I'll be putting to you this evening:
Chapter 6: - Is Boxer's life a total waste or is there anything redeeming about the fact that he finds purpose in his work? - Where is Mrs. Jones? - Does Napoleon really believe Snowball is a saboteur or is he just lying?
Chapter 7: - What do you think happened to Snowball? - Why did so many animals confessed to crimes they probably didn't commit?
What day do you prefer for me to livestream? I want to do events to catch as many of you as possible. The time that works best for me is 9 pm British time (that will be GMT in winter, BST in summer). Out of Monday, Tuesday, Friday, or Saturday, which is best for you?
I just finished a wonderful week in the Lake District with my family, and our last visit was to The World of Beatrix Potter! There was a statue of this amazing artist, storyteller, scientist, conservationist, and farmer. It's the closest I will ever get to meeting her but I will take it! #beatrixpotter#peterrabbit#windermere#lakedistrict
I had not anticipated reviewing Project Hail Mary as Andy Weir's earlier work had too much strong language and grownup themes to count as children's literature but I have been delighted by Project Hail Mary and would like to hear from YOU. How do you think the book compared to the movie? I found the movie to be a wonderful story about friendship and problem solving, but how do you think it compares to the book and which version would appeal more to teens?
Tonight's Animal Farm Book Club starts at 9pm GMT! Here's the link to Chapter 4, hosted on my storytelling channel, so you can be all ready for our discussion. https://youtu.be/mEaEX_GHbp8
