Is bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) safe for everyone?

Not necessarily. Hormone therapy should never be a one-size-fits-all decision.

Before considering BHRT, I look at the whole picture, including:

• Pregnancy or fertility goals
• Personal medical history
• Family history of breast, ovarian, uterine, or prostate cancer
• History of hormone-sensitive cancers
• Symptoms, laboratory findings, risks, and potential benefits

For example, women with a history of estrogen-receptor-positive breast cancer and men with a history of prostate cancer require particularly careful, individualized evaluation.

🎥 In my latest video, I explain who may NOT be an appropriate candidate for BHRT and why your medical history matters when considering hormone therapy.

Question: What would you like me to cover next about BHRT: safety, testing, side effects, or how long it takes to feel results?

Educational information only. Hormone therapy should be individualized with a qualified healthcare professional.

🩺 Why did I become an Integrative Medicine Physician?

People often ask me why I chose this path instead of practicing conventional medicine alone.

The answer is simple:

I wanted to understand why people become sick—not just how to treat symptoms.

Throughout my journey—from studying Biochemistry at Baylor University, earning my Master of Public Health at the University of Washington, and completing my Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University—one question has always guided me:

"What is the root cause?"

That's the philosophy behind every video I create and every patient I care for.

On this channel, you'll find practical, evidence-informed education on:
🌿 Hormone health & menopause
🧠 Brain health & memory
💪 Longevity & healthy aging
🥗 Gut health & functional medicine
🧬 MTHFR & advanced lab testing
😴 Sleep, stress & metabolism

If you're new here, I'd love to officially welcome you.

💬 I'd love to get to know you!

🚨 Always tired, gaining weight, or struggling with brain fog? It might not be "just getting older."

Many people dismiss these symptoms as stress or aging, but they can also be signs of a hormone imbalance.

Common symptoms include:

🧠 Brain fog and poor memory
😔 Mood swings, anxiety, or depression
😴 Poor sleep or insomnia

⏳ How long does it really take for bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT) to work?

One of the most common questions I hear from patients is:

"When will I start feeling better?"

The answer may surprise you.

Many women begin noticing improvements within 48–72 hours, while others may take 1–2 weeks to experience meaningful changes. Men receiving testosterone pellet therapy often notice benefits within 1–2 weeks as well.

But here's what many people don't realize:

🌿 Hormones are only part of the equation.

Your results are also influenced by:
✔️ Sleep
✔️ Nutrition
✔️ Stress
✔️ Gut health
✔️ Exercise
✔️ Thyroid function
✔️ Overall metabolic health

That's why I always encourage a comprehensive, root-cause approach instead of relying on hormones alone.

🎥 In my newest video, I explain:
• What to expect week by week on BHRT
• Why everyone's timeline is different
• How to maximize your results naturally
• The biggest misconceptions about hormone replacement therapy

💬 What symptom are you hoping hormone therapy will improve first?
Brain fog? Fatigue? Hot flashes? Sleep? Mood? Let me know in the comments!

🧬 Do You Have an MTHFR Gene Mutation? Here's What Most People Get Wrong.

Have you ever been told you have an MTHFR gene mutation and wondered what it actually means?

There's a lot of misinformation online. While MTHFR can affect how your body processes folate and methylation, having a genetic variant does not automatically mean you're sick or that you need expensive supplements.

In my latest video, I explain:
✅ What the MTHFR gene does
✅ The difference between folic acid and methylfolate
✅ Whether you really need methylated vitamin B12
✅ When genetic testing may (or may not) be helpful
✅ How I evaluate MTHFR in a functional medicine practice

Remember: Your genes are one piece of the puzzle—not your destiny. Your nutrition, gut health, lifestyle, sleep, stress, and overall health play an equally important role.

💬 Have you ever been tested for MTHFR, or are you taking methylated vitamins? I'd love to hear your experience in the comments.

🎥 Watch the full video to learn what the evidence says before making changes to your supplements.

🩸 Is Your Iron Supplement Actually the Problem... or Is It Your Gut?

Have you been taking iron supplements for months, yet your ferritin is still low?

Many people think they simply need more iron, but that's not always the answer.

Your body may be struggling with:
✔️ Gut inflammation
✔️ Poor nutrient absorption
✔️ Microbiome imbalance
✔️ Chronic inflammation (hepcidin)
✔️ Low stomach acid
✔️ Heavy menstrual bleeding or other underlying causes

As a functional medicine physician, I often ask a different question:

Why isn't your body absorbing or using iron effectively?

Sometimes the missing piece isn't another supplement—it's addressing the health of your digestive system.

Have you ever had low ferritin despite taking iron? Share your experience below. 👇

What if your body is not asking you to push harder…

…but asking you to slow down?

In this podcast episode, I sit down with Kent Combs, Qi Gong teacher and Reiki practitioner, to talk about Qi Gong, Reiki, breathwork, nervous system regulation, energy healing, burnout recovery, and coming back to your body.

We explore how chronic stress can show up as fatigue, poor sleep, anxiety, body tension, brain fog, emotional overwhelm, and feeling stuck in survival mode.

Kent shares how gentle movement, Reiki, meditation, and body awareness can help people reconnect with themselves — not by forcing healing, but by creating more safety, rhythm, breath, and awareness in the body.

This episode is especially for anyone who feels burned out, disconnected, overwhelmed, or ready for a more grounded way to support their health.
