Important update about DBD concepts and the future of the channel
Hello, everyone.
TL;DR for those who just want quick info: The SIGNALIS concept is cancelled, Outlast concept is delayed indefinitely, and I'm going on hiatus / potentially retiring altogether.
If you're interested in hearing the full story and want to know the reasoning behind the above decisions, then get ready for this big wall of text:
1. General loss of motivation
For the last year or so, I have been steadily losing motivation to work on all content, especially Dead By Daylight chapter concepts. There are plenty of reasons for this, but to keep things short without making this post even bigger than it already is, some of them include: A total lack of interest in DBD (have not played the game in several years), long development time and frustrating roadblocks, and just a general loss of satisfaction from producing content / burnout.
A big issue that I also have with these concept videos is their eventual obsolete nature. Most of them involve major horror licenses that would always inevitably find their way into the real game (Resident Evil, Alien, and most recently FNaF). When that happens, I don't feel as though the concepts serve any more purpose, and they eventually fall into obscurity, which is of course not ideal given the immense amount of work put into each one.
2. SIGNALIS concept cancellation and indefinite Outlast delay
Aside from everything brought up in the first point, there are additional reasons specific to these two concepts that lead them to end up the way they did.
This is something I've already talked about in more detail in a previous post, but when it comes to SIGNALIS, the poor launch of the teaser has left me feeling rather upset for some time. It is the worst performing DBDCCT video to date, even more so than the survivor videos. Concerned that this might've also applied to the full concept, I've now chosen to scrap the project entirely.
As for the Outlast video, we've unfortunately hit a major roadblock during development - animations. The power for our planned killer is rather unique and a bit complex, requiring much more custom animation work than we ever needed for a killer.
Because Outlast was supposed to be the DBDCCT's final "goodbye concept", and one voted by the community at that, I didn't really feel like pulling the plug on it. However, no further progress on it can be made until a willing animator will be able to help us out. This means that the concept will either come out in a much, much more distant future, or in worst case scenario may never release at all.
3. Future of the channel
With the DBD chapter concepts now out of the picture, there isn't really anything else I can think of that I'd be interested in working on. There are a couple things I've briefly considered, including a return to game development, but I don't think I want to work on something of that scale anytime soon.
And with that, I don't feel as though there is much left for me to do as a content creator, which is why I will now be going on an indefinite hiatus. This means that this channel will likely not have any more videos uploaded to it for a very long time or at all, aside from the Outlast concept, should we ever be able to finish it.
Though these news may be dissapointing to many, I hope you understand the reasoning behind all these decisions. While it's unlikely that I will work on any type of content anytime soon, I'm hoping to be able to share it with you all when and if that does happen.
If you have any questions you'd like to ask in the comments, I'll do my best to answer them.
Outlast Concept - Development Update #2 (Looking For Narrators!)
Hi, everyone!
It's only been a month since the last update on this concept, so while I don't have a crazy whole lot ready to show just yet, we did end up preparing something that all of you will be able to take part in.
Just like every other Spotlight concept, this one will of course feature a narrator. In the past, we've focused on content creators from the Dead By Daylight community as well as any creators within the horror space in general. But this time around, we thought it might be cool to do things a little differently.
Since this concept is being dedicated to the community, with you guys being the ones to vote for it, we decided that we could also try letting you participate in the development directly.
We have prepared a form where everyone is able to submit a sample of their voice for us to review, which you can access right here: forms.gle/md5sXmZ5jNX3Zs2o6. We are debating having multiple narrators (up to 2 - 3) for different parts of the script should the auditions be a great success, but this is something we'll decide once the form is closed. More details are included within the form.
As for an update on the concept's progress, like I said there isn't a lot more to show yet, but I included a preview of some of the addon icons done by WheatDraws. A couple of these are references to the Outlast comics, so any dedicated fans might be able to pick up on those.
In addition, we are also in talks with an animator about some slight animation work for this concept, the same one who created the Springtrap mori in our FNaF Gameplay video. While it's unlikely they will be able to create a mori for this one as well, you should expect to see some higher quality animations for certain unique actions that the Killer will be performing.
The next update will likely take a while, but I should hopefully have a little more to show you all by then!
Outlast Concept - Development Update #1 (WIP Images)
Hello, everyone!
As you may know, some time ago we hosted a poll where we allowed you guys to pick our next concept, and Outlast was announced as the winner. After delaying the Signalis concept, we have immediately begun work on the Outlast one, and have made a little bit of progress since.
For this concept, because it's already been announced and therefore we haven't really got anything to hide, we have decided it could be fun to post some updates every once in a while, with some WIP footage for you all to see. And in this post, I'll do just that.
For the past couple of weeks, I have been working on the map. Progress has been a little slow due to me being occupied with other things, but I have managed to prepare some screenshots for you to see. They are in 4K resolution, and show some of the different environments you can expect to see in the Spotlight trailer. Keep in mind that these are very, very much a work in progress, and are subject to change.
Because YouTube only allows uploading small square images, I have decided to put them all into an Imgur album instead. Here you go: imgur.com/a/vt9PZdz
This map is actually a heavy overhaul of a series of Garry's Mod maps released by SirWoon on the Steam workshop. I have been given their permission to import these into Unity and modify them for the purpose of the video. Most of the props and textures have been replaced with different and higher quality ones that don't originate from Source engine games. They're a combination of both custom assets, and any official Outlast assets I could get my hands on.
Creating a map from scratch for Outlast would've been an incredibly time consuming and difficult process. While a lot of work needs to be done to bring the maps into a high quality standard, their overall shape is of course already complete. Because of this, I'd like to thank SirWoon a lot for creating these maps, and allowing us to use them for our concept. Be sure to check out the original versions on the workshop, and show their creator some support: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=121…
Other than that, we have also fully figured a power for a killer that we will keep secret until the Spotlight is released. I believe this power is extremely unique, and that you guys should enjoy seeing it in action. We will also likely have the narration script ready sooner than later.
That's pretty much all I have to share with you all for now, but stay tuned for more updates in the future!
The development of this poll has been very interesting to observe. For the first few days, Hotline Miami absolutely trumped all the other options by dozens of votes, with Original Chapter being a close second. However, Outlast would very gradually catch up to it, beating it by a couple dozen votes. Following the release of our latest teaser, the poll had received an additional spike in votes, most of which went to Hotline Miami, making it just THREE votes away from winning.
And with all that being said, the winner of the poll is... Outlast! It's not a totally surprising choice, though I personally was pretty convinced something like Terminator would take the cake, or that there would be more demand for a Predator Spotlight. Regardless, we have actually already started some very early planning for Outlast, and while thinking of a good killer and power was very difficult, we managed to come up with something that I think is actually extremely unique, and should make both fans and non-fans happy.
Now for the other, less fun part of this post. Our latest teaser trailer for Signalis hasn't been doing well. In fact, it is the worst performing concept thus far by a very significant margin, having below average views for this channel, which is a first for a DBD concept video. While I very much expected the teaser to not perform as well as some of the other videos given the lower popularity of the game, I did not expect a difference this extreme, and hoped that the new cinematic format would bring more people in.
Because of this, I have made the decision for the team to not pursue the concept at this time. This doesn't mean it's cancelled entirely, however we will instead be prioritizing the winner of the poll, Outlast, as I believe it is a more worthwhile project. This means that a Spotlight for Signalis will come out at a much later date, either some time after the Outlast concept or after my own personal concept(s) that I would make once WheatDraws, one of DBDCCT's core members, had made his previously announced departure.
Vote on a future concept! (+ Details about the future of our videos, and more)
Hello, everyone!
It has been a while since my last upload, although by now I feel like that's just how long our concepts tend to take nowadays. I'll separate this post into three different sections for easier reading, so you can skip whatever you're not interested in.
1. Future concept poll
While we have already decided on our next Spotlight concept, we thought we should give the community a chance to choose the one after it. Part of it is because it's likely that it may be our last chapter concept as the original DBDCCT, as WheatDraws, one of the core members, is making a departure. This does not necessarily mean it'll be the last DBD concept on this channel, but there may be a big change in how they're made. And so we figured that this would be the best way to end things off.
As said above, the concept after the Survivor Spotlight has already been decided, and we already have a teaser ready to be shared next week. A teaser that is unlike anything else we've put out on this channel. Starting with this concept, I will finally be using an upgraded version of Unity, bringing the visuals to a much higher level. It may very well be our highest quality and most unique concept by a mile. We're eager to share more with you soon.
3. Some background for the Survivor Spotlight / Why it took so long
Our survivor concept has a rather interesting story. It has been on our backburner for a LONG time, as early as October 2021. It was originally intended as a small side project to be created while figuring out the next major concept, but we ended up just powering through those major ones and never had the time to make it.
Some time ago, we were working on our next big project, one for The Evil Within. However the difficulty of figuring out a solid map, and inability to create animations for our chosen killer, Laura, has lead us to scrap the idea. This is around the time we revisited the Survivor concept and decided to make it our main one, converting it into a Spotlight Trailer.
Aside from the time spent on the cancelled TEW concept, we stumbled across some other issues, which have caused the concept to be delayed severely. We were also originally going to have a fourth survivor, Alan Wake, however BHVR has managed to beat us to it this time.
Hello everyone. I wanted to share some extra details about our upcoming concept, which we have just teased on this channel. Be sure to watch the video first.
Up until somewhat recently, we were actually working on an entirely different video, more specifically another Survivors concept, which was the 'smaller side project' we mentioned in the Slender Spotlight.
This quick project was meant to be made in the meantime, while trying to work out an alternative for the now cancelled SCP concept. However, it ended up being more and more ambitious over time, to where it eventually became more like a main project.
Working on that Survivors concept right now would mean no Killer videos for several months more. Because they have way more demand, we have decided to pause the progress on that project and instead shifted our efforts to a Killer concept, which ended up being an Amnesia Spotlight.
We have only just started working on it, so it's certainly going to take a while. But we do already have everything planned out, and will very soon be entering full production.
I'll keep you guys up to date on any progress through these community posts, and maybe even thrown in some WIP screenshots here and there. So stay tuned.
So, you guys have probably seen the ending message on the Slenderman video that we just put out.
To explain it a little better - basically, ALL forms of SCP content are licensed under the Creative Commons ShareAlike 3.0 License.
To quote the wiki: "This license means that people will be able to copy your work wholesale, and even sell it, provided that they properly attribute you and release their work under the same license."
Now normally this license wouldn't be a problem for us at all, if the content (in this case concept video) only involved SCP material.
However, we are mixing SCP content with a game that is under an All Rights Reserved copyright. If we licensed the video under CC-BY-SA (which again, you MUST do for anything SCP related) we would get in trouble with Behaviour themselves, as we'd essentially be allowing people to sell our video, which contains copyrighted material from Behaviour.
This also unfortunately means that we cannot release the SCP teaser EVER, as it featured a combination of both SCP-related and DBD-related assets. It's unfortunate, but that's just how these things work.
For those interested, our considerations for the killers were SCP-049 and SCP-106, and the survivor would've been D-9341, all of which we had fully planned out and ready to develop.
On the plus side, we have already chosen a franchise for our next concept, and it should be significantly easier to create than both the Slender concept as well as what would've been the SCP concept. We'll reveal more information by the time our upcoming side-concept gets released.
Another update on the Slender Spotlight Concept (Good news!)
Hey, guys. Last month or so I posted an update where I informed you on the 'development hell' that the concept was stuck in, with the reason behind it being a lack of an animator.
While we still don't have an animator in our team at the moment, I figured out some workarounds, and with a lot of time and effort I was able to animate the Slenderman myself. This means that the concept is no longer stuck in the same phase, and work on it has resumed to a normal pace.
Currently, the video has reached a length of 3:50, which is a little over half of the Spotlight section finished, as the narration lasts 7 minutes in total. We will also be including a teaser for the next major concept as well as a short lobby preview for Slenderman, but those will be done very quickly.
If progress will remain perfectly smooth and no more obstacles will end up in our way, it should be released sometime next month or the one after, and this will very likely be my last update before the eventual release.
Thank you all for being patient, and I hope you will all soon be able to enjoy our project.
Hey, everyone. It has been three months since the little teaser we did for the upcoming Slender concept, which we have not yet released still. I figured I'd make this community post to update you all on what's happening.
The video has been delayed several times already, for numerous different reasons. We had some difficulties finding a right narrator for the concept, and when we eventually found one, we had some 'communication' issues and needed a replacement after almost more than two months of waiting. However, thankfully this problem has finally been sorted, and we have the narration fully recorded by a very vocally talented content creator.
Another problem are the animations for Slenderman. Our animator is currently busy with their job and hasn't yet been able to create the animations we crucially need to continue making the concept. They haven't been able to give an estimate for when they'd be available, so right now we are unable to progress any further.
Because of this, unfortunately I myself can't provide a proper estimate for when you should expect the concept. It'll be out this year for sure, that's the most I can say.
To slightly ease your wait, I've included a work in progress picture of a section of the map.
Hey! So, in the latest Spotlight video that I made I promised I'd be showing some uncut gameplay footage and do a little map showcase of the FNaF concept. While that's still in my plans, it will unfortunately come at an even later date, but not for a bad reason.
A new talent has joined our team, a proper animator. It is something that we've been lacking, and because of that we have been limited as to what's possible in our concepts. I only have basic experience in animation, and you might be able to tell that in certain parts of the FNaF concept. This opens up new possibilities in our next videos, and I think many of you will be happy with what we have in store for this concept and the future ones.
Not only that but I need to create a menu for this concept, and would also like to polish the map a little more as well. Both of these will take a little while.
I won't be able to work on the concepts very much next month as I have a very tough exam coming and need to study for it, but once that's finished I should be back to my usual development speed.

Poll Results + Important Info About Signalis Concept
Hello, everyone!
Two weeks ago, we set up a poll to allow you to vote for a future concept. Well, the results are now in! Here they are: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1AqT0ISEKxNCIXDuevn…
The development of this poll has been very interesting to observe.

Update on the Slender Spotlight Concept

Update on the Five Nights at Freddy's Gameplay
