🚨 YouTube just gave you a new number to bring into brand deal negotiations
It's called "views co-viewed" and it's live in Analytics right now 🧵

Here's the problem it solves:
3 people watching your video together on one TV used to count as 1 view.
With 1B+ hours of YouTube watched on TVs every day, often in groups, creators were undercounting their real audience
Views co-viewed estimates the total number of people actually watching.

It's a statistical model that predicts group viewing based on:
• Demographic patterns
• Video genre
• Viewing times
So it's an estimate.

Don't confuse it with unique reach (also in Advanced Mode):
Unique reach → people, counted once
Views co-viewed → watch occasions
Family of 3 watches your video twice:
= 3 unique reach
= 6 co-views

Why this matters for Creators:
❌ It does NOT change your revenue. Payouts and YPP eligibility still run on engaged and qualified views
❌ Public view counts don't change either. This is a private metric only you can see
✅ It IS platform-backed, and YouTube says you can use it when negotiating brand deals

If your audience watches on TV, your media kit just got stronger.

The metric takes up to 48 hours to process. Any date range that includes the last 2 days (like "Last 28 days") will look lower than it really is

Use a custom range that ends 2+ days ago for accurate numbers
