Nomad in the Mangroves

🛠️ Nomad in the Mangroves

Shallow-draft sailing. DIY boatbuilding. Coastal exploration.

We’re a couple of millenials in love, restoring a 25-foot wooden Sharpie and crossing off our bucket list in the shallow waters of Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Nomad is a John and William Atkin “New Sister” — a classic shoal-draft cruiser inspired by 19th-century working boats. Light, beachable, and built of wood, she’s perfect for the creeks, bays, and backwaters we plan to explore. She is All wood and carries a gaff rig. She drafts 12” board up!

What you’ll find here:
• DIY wooden boatbuilding and outfitting
• Traditional sailboat rigging and repair
• Shoal-water cruising and coastal adventure
• Real-time lessons and discoveries

If you love wooden boats, cold cocktails, folky music and making things by hand — welcome aboard.
